The wind ruffled Hirato's crimson hair as he listened to Sachiko's reply. She was quite correct about everything she said; he had underestimated how intelligent the female Shinigami truly was. Her thoughts about the war mirrored his own. He often doubted that the war retained its purpose after you had watched loved ones die time after time. The cause seemed less and less important when you watched your friends be killed in the most brutal ways on a daily basis. Gazing into her blue eyes with understanding, Hirato replied to her words.
"I continue fighting so that the sacrifices aren't meaningless and to achieve my goal. What about you?" His body still ached, but the Third Seat decided that they could not remain there much longer. This discussion had to continue, though; it was simply too interesting to abandon. She had provided a rather impressive amount of insight, although he certainly didn't wish she understood so much. The cost for such knowledge was practically unbearable.
Glancing at her, he remembered her final words. She had no reason to apologize for anything. This discussion, was, if anything, something that the veteran Shinigami was enjoying. He had never really discussed this with another warrior, especially one who shared his views about the war. "Don't apologize. I concur with what you said completely. I'm glad we're discussing this. It's better than to just have it burning inside." Hirato spoke from experience, since usually his personal sentiments were never expressed to anyone else. However, there was a first time for everything and this first time was a crucial one.
