//OOC: All is forgiven, Miss Nanao. Let's get down to business to defeat the huns//
He felt Lady's reiatsu coming toward him and then stop. He peeked around the statue and saw her gazing at it as a small hint of a bemused smile played at the corner of her mouth. He grinned as a second kido lit up her hands. She looked like a sorceress of old, like one he had seen in the paintings around the place (Morgan LaFey, he thought to himself, I think that was the chick.) Human legends piqued his interest more and more as he toured the casino called Excalibur. He wondered to himself if she recognized the man the statue depicted--she was right in front of him, he might as well ask. Sounding off another whistle that cracked over the hum of the crowd, he nodded to her and raised his (only quarter full, he noted with a pang of both regret and annoyance) coffee cup in another smug sort of toast to her. "Yanno who that is? 'Cause I don't have a clue."
He strode out into the crowd; blase and confident, he held his head high watching her fumble through the crowd. It was somewhat funny how awkward she was. He had never really understood how when some people were faced with large crowds their confidence was flayed down to nothing. Crowds were a kind of recharger for him?they kept him on the alert, they kept him moving. He ended up at the front door, blazing a trail across the floor, turning around backwards to wave to her as he sauntered out the door into the warm night air.
The first thing that hit him was the noise of the...cars, right? The cars that flew down the black paths the humans carved out for them. After a minute of getting used to it, it only sounded like a dull whirr. He looked around, stopping on the sidewalk to take in the sights. He had arrived when the sun was still up, it had crawled beyond the horizon and left the Strip in the dark. Or, it would have had the city not come to life with lights and sound once the natural light faded. Everything had a vibrant color that had been absent in the daylight. The night had painted a picture of this sprawling urban masterpiece that he couldn't have ever even dreamt of. He wanted to explore it all, the places so full of light and life, he almost felt as if he could scream in a primal joy and excitement.
He didn't though. He looked back at the casino he had just left. It was built like a kind of whimsical palace, turrets jutting high in the air, jousting with the stars. He looked to the pyramidal Luxor, which had become a hulking glass monument, and obelisk of light jutting forward into the sky. Jeez, he thought, it almost looks like a column. It could hold the sky up if it were solid.[/color] Across the street though, a new wonder caught his eye: A sleek, tall building with bright neon spelling out "TROPICANA". Intrigued and enthralled, he found a small troupe of humans who were also crossing the road and joined them, breaking away from the group to enter the building.
He looked around. The place was decorated with palm trees not unlike the ones outside, but these were confined to small pots rather than in the ground. He felt sorry for them, trapped in the humans' pots with no control of where they grew or stood. They reminded him of Lady. He furrowed his brow and stepped onto the casino floor as a concierge greeted him with a cheery "Welcome to Tropicana! May I interest you in a room?" He gawked at her for a moment and then replied, "Nah. Just here for the games." It wasn't a total lie, he was certainly locked in a game. The best game, he thought smugly.
"I see. Good luck!" He grinned and nodded. He felt her eyes on him as he walked through the casino, and wondered vaguely what she was looking at as he returned his gaze to the decor. This casino was definitely more modern than the other two, and decorated in a cool cream and white. All that was on this level was the gambling outfit--poker room, slots, the works. He had expected that, but he was really starting to like the way each of the places could make the same facilities look different. He knew he should just leave, but he was liking the look of the Tropicana and had a nagging urge to explore the upper level. He jumped on the moving staircase that was set at the center of the sleek lower level and while he immediately regretted it (the stairs still made him sick), he jumped off and strode onto the upper floor, also modern and sleek. He could smell something savory as a door opened across from where he stood. Deciding to wait for lady for a while (she must have fallen behind after a while, because her reiatsu had almost completely disappeared), he wandered into a gift shop and looked absently at the trinkets for sale.
//OOC: Okay, I have no idea why this is so long, but yeah.
