**This story takes place time wise before Acherus's assualt upon the Scarlet Crusade in New Avalon. About one month before so you know. This story is going to be from the perspective of Amaliana 'Midnai' Bradford and will include multiple stories as I feel the urge to write more.**
~~Chapter One {A Not So Fond Memory}~~
She sat within the confines of Light's Hope Chapel. Her head lowered in reverance for her morning prayer. Clad within the plate armor of her status of a simple paladin was a feminine figure to be certain. Removing her helm slowly off her shoulders it revealed first the auburn hair and then the face of Amaliana 'Midnai' Bradford. After finishing her morning prayer she looked up and noticed that those of the Scarlet Crusade had left. Their commander was a woman of some stature and had Amaliana's full respect for she helped create and then push into Naxxramas. Recently she had gotten an assignment that she loved. She was assigned to the same strike group as her cousin, his best friend, and an old friend of hers. Her cousin Lucian 'Grivus' Blaumeux, his friend Jekab Nordstrom where both highly respected paladins. Amaliana's friend was a hunter of the wilds who went by the name of Dantemoon. The four of them came up with a rather interesting name for their small strikeforce. "Divine Ruination" was what the four of them came up with. Primarily his cousin was the one who pushed for it. This group was a happy lot minus that Amaliana had almost lost her life a few months back within the Battle of Naxxramas. Closing her eyes and resting her head in her hands she reflected on that day.
~~Five Months Prior~~
There was an unmistakable chill in the air that made Amaliana shiver inside of her plate mail. Carrying a hammer across her back ; a simple gift from her cousin, and her trustee sword and shield. Looking to her left and right she had her cousin on one side and Jekab on the other. Looking down the long room at the end of it was the target for her unit and those also with them. At the end of the room stood the Grand Widow herself Faerlina.
The chill within the air made her shiver behind her sturdy plate armor. The large hammer across her back along with the fact her cousin and Jekab where there alongside her. Staring ahead she saw the 'Grand Widow' Faerlina stood at the end of the room. She pulled her hammer off her back and patted her cousin on the shoulder. He nodded at her and slapped her friend and they charged into the room his friend throwing his holy shield into the student at the far left causing him to crumple over in pain. Lucius used the hammer of light to stop one of them in its tracks then with a massive swing of his sword he cleft the head of the student off. Midnai herself rolled under one of the students attacks hitting this one also with a hammer of light before smashing his skull with a well placed mace swing.
She dropped her mace and pulled her small mace and shield off her back. As she did that her cousin finished the final of the 'Disciples of Faerlina'. The Widow screamed in a rage and charged toward Lucius but as she did Jekab fired a blast of Holy Light into her face. Midnai took the opprotunity and charged in hitting her square in the chest with a swing from her small mace. Thats when she felt an immense pain in her wrist. The Widow had grabbed it so she twisted away leaving the mace within the hands of the widow. She noticed a small mace hanging from Faerlina's waist she charged in using her shield as a block and grabbed the mace. It was at that moment that she heard a massive crashing noise and pain shot through her. Managing to look up she saw the Widow smiling at her and a sword in her hands. She watched as the sword made a horrid scrapping noise as it left the perfect sized hole in the now useless shield. Then it hit her the feeling of lightheadedness and nausea. :: Poison... Not .. good.. :: Her final thoughts before falling onto the ground with a quite loud audible thud.
~~Chapter 2 {A Day To Remember the Fallen}~~
Having walked out of the chapel she stopped at the top step. Midnai looked out over the ruined plains of the Plaguelands. Looking up toward where Naxxramas used to be it made her uncomfortable. There was an inkling in the back of her mind that there was something coming, something much much worse than Naxxramas ever was. Shaking that from her mind she knew what rounds she needed to do. Thankfully she had the day off from duty as she was making a special trip back to Stormwind. Heading to the Gryphon Master she paid for a gryphon to Stormwind. After a long flight she stopped at a small stand she knew of that sold flowers and she bought several from there.
Not using her mount as she had left her charger back up at Light's Hope she walked the route to Goldshire and then North following the road into Northshire before heading to the waterfall at the end of the river within the walled area. Midnai stopped at a small upraised rock that not many would notice. Wiping the grime from it there was a name engraved upon it marking this spot as a grave. Midnai placed the flowers on the grave. "Well it has been four years there Meireah. I wish you where still with me. We could have used your power when we made the final push into Naxxramas. I miss you so much... Why did you get captured... Why did you have to leave me here alone." As she spoke to the grave tears had started to flow from her eyes.
~~ Four Years Earlier; Noxious Glen, Eastern Plaguelands~~
Midnai had been sent back to Light's Hope. Her friend Meireah had sent her back to report their findings within the Noxious Glen. Having protested fiercely but with her usual smile and wink made Midnai give up the fight. Giving her friend a hug she left with the words "Please be safe love. May the Light Bless you..." Little did she know that when she returned to the hidden camp they used she found evidence of an attack from the Scourge.
Midnai flew into a rage. Her emotions overwhelming her as she saw a trail of blood heading toward a nearby necropolis. Charging past Scourge that she pelted with the Light causing them disintigrate into dust she made it to the door of the necropolis. Hitting it with her mace the door gave a little. With another swing she hit the same spot causing a hole to open up. She stuck her ear to the hole and she heard something that made her blood run cold. "You... cannot... break me..." Thos words where followed by a blood curlding scream. It was the voice of her friend, Mid's rage hit another level she did not know she had as she swung her mace again. As it collided with the door it broke the door in a blinding flash of light and a loud crashing noise.
Midnai charged through the door into the antichamber of the necropolis. There was a necromancer standing with a large knife pointed at her friend who was laying on a table with several large wounds evident from Midnai's location. Blood was everywhere. Mid's mind slowed down as she felt the rage of what she saw course into her. She was charging at the necromancer as she felt something pierce her left leg. Looking down she saw a large hook with a chain attached to it. :: A Scourge Hook... Stupid Abomination stopping me from getting to Meireah... It dies. :: Her thoughts crossed her mind barely able to function as the rage made her attack the abomination that had caught her with the hook. Her hammer slammed down onto the creatures arm that was holding the hook crushing it beyond use. She then focused the light and aimed it at the chest of the creature and hit it causing the creature to collapse backwards with a large searing hole inside of its chest.
With the hook still in her leg Midnai charged once again. Dragging the chain and with her injured leg she was unable to reach her friend before she saw the necromancer start slicing into the skin right above her heart. She threw the hammer at the Necromancer hitting him causing him to drop the knife and stumble away. "Get away from her... You Damned man."
With that Mid using the Light to assist her movement now got to him punching the person in the face. Hearing several breaking noises she did not stop with just the first punch. She climbed atop the man and kept punching and punching until all she was punching was a mess of flesh that was once his face. As she stood she saw him make a move for the knife. Grabbing her two handed mace she swung it down as hard as she could on his chest killing the man outright. Leaving the mace on his chest she moved and grabbed the knife using it to cut her friends ropes.
As Mid helped her friend off the table she saw that her friend had gone pale. "Dont do that Mei... Your safe... I have you." As she spoke she could feel the life slowly draining out of her friend. Meireah raised her hand up and cupped Midnai's face speaking back to Midnai "I feel ... it is ... over Middy. You have.. found me... kept me from.. becoming a Scourge... Just live... my love."
As soon as she finished her haggard words Meireah's hand fell down off Midnai's face. Midnai grabbed her mace and quickly strapped it to her back before lifting her friend. "You are fine... I will get you to a priest." As she spoke she hobbled out of the necropolis the hook still in her leg. There was no Scourge between her and the exit of the Noxious Glen. Using all the power she could muster Midnai ran with her friend in her arms back to Light's Hope Chapel. It was futile though as she was running she felt the haggard final breaths of her friend.
She collapsed at the entrance to the medical tent as soon as she got to it. The other crusaders headed out grabbing both Midnai and Meireah. Midnai watched as they tried everything they could to help Meireah. After a few frantic minutes she saw them lower their heads in what looked like defeat. In anger she lashed out at them "What do you mean you cannot help her... Your priests for Lights sake. Please... do.. something..." She collapsed down onto the ground next to her friends table, the tears flowing from her eyes. The chains making an audible noise as she did.
For Midnai it was numbing from that point on. When they removed the hook from her leg she did not even flinch. That evening they held a small funeral service for Meireah. Midnai was the last to leave the room. Before she did she looked at her friend who they had cleaned up. "I cannot believe you are gone... Mei I will always be yours so long as I have this. You will always be with me." A small piece of bronze shaped like the crest of Lordaeron was around Midnai's neck. She rubbed it gently, lovingly.
The following day Midnai went with the body to Stormwind as she was the only person who was left to Meireah in the world. She buried her underneath the spot that the two friends had met.
~~ Back to Present~~
Midnai stood back up wiping the tears from her face. She pulled the small piece of bronze out from a pocket she had on her armor. "I told you my love I would always hold onto this... It will never leave my possesion until I meet the person that has my utmost devotion as you did. I will return as often as I can... I heard the way North is opening up. If that is true I will bring your vengeance to Arthas himself." As she placed the metal trinket back into her pocket she patted the gravestone and turned leaving the grave with a single rose being the flower she placed there.
