-----The story so far-----
The Gotei have emerged from a long and bloody Civil War within the Seireitei and the Rukon. Five centuries ago the Soitaicho Xiaoyu Demizu and her Fukotaicho Kimiko Demizu found out that the ruling body of the Central Forty Six had become corrupt. In their arrogance they attempted to seize control over the Gotei in a sweeping move which was initiated by the attempted assassination of the Soitaicho and Fukotaicho and installation of their own puppet leadership within the Gotei. The stewardship of the puppets however did not last to long as once recovered the now revitalized and obviously angered Soitaicho struck what has become known as the ‘Heaven’s Falling’. In a singular event she inadvertently ignited a fire within the hearts of Gotei and they stood up against the corruption that the Central Forty Six represented. There was only one issue the Central Forty Six had forseen this and had created an army of their own.
Every fallen shinigami’s zanpaktou they had stolen. Creating duplicates of their original owners kept inside of a state of suspended animation til the right moment. That moment happened just when Xiaoyu came to confront them. One of the Senators within the Central became enraged at her accusations and activated the first clone. A clone of the first Soitaicho created from his body. The clash between the diminutive Soitaicho and her predecessor was monstrous. It leveled over half of the Seireitei in but a few blows after they both uttered their bankai’s release. Though it was upon the Sokyokyu Hill that they say the battle ended but the war began. Both of the Soitaicho’s vanished upon colliding in a brilliant flash of Reiatsu that blinded many and ended up leveling the great hill leaving nothing remaining of it nor the Maggot’s Nest beneath.
With Xiaoyu gone Kimiko stood up. Taking her fallen wife’s discarded and bloodied Hakama as her own she began the war against the Central Forty Six that would last for five centuries and would cost most of those involved their lives. The rebels where backed by the Noble Houses who had not fallen in line with the Central Forty Sixes’ demands. The houses of Shihonen, Kuchiki, Shiba, stood with the Gotei Rebels alongside their leadership and resources tey brought space for the Rebels to find and hide out within. All of those that had started the war though did not make it save for one woman. Kimiko Demizu despite the sheer length of the constant warfare, the toll her own powers took on her body, and the raising of a family during the warring times made it through to the day when they struck the final blow on the Central Forty Six.
The rebels managed to find and destroy the last of the areas where the Central Forty Six lay hiding within the ruins of the Seireitei. As they celebrated a loud burst of Reiatsu drew the attention of those celebrating the victory as the bodies of Xiaoyu and Yamamoto appeared in the grass covered crater that was the Seireitei. They where both long dead but it seemed that the final blow they had struck upon one another had shattered the very fabric of time and this moment was their returning glory. The Rebels who numbered but in the thousands came to the crater and began construction of a memorial to all those who had lost their lives in the conflict. Most notably the two Soitaichos that had triggered the very war they had just ended. Now with the war being over the leader of the Rebels passed away leaving the bloodied hakama that was the symbol of the Gotei to her eldest daughter Lhin who now is in charge of the Gotei and tasked with leading them out from the ruins they where within.
----The shifting sands-----
Many have risen and many have fallen during the Gotei’s Civil War but there has been but a few constants. The Tres Beasts roaming the sands in honor of their Reyes. Along with them the elite squadrons of Grimmjow roamed the sands for four centuries as the Gotei imploded, but then one day they stopped. No one knows what happened to the former Espada. Those so strong they said could suck the very light from the air about them when their powers where used. Now the sands stir restlessly. Those afraid to show their face for the previous century are now emerging. Stronger Adjuncha’s clawing around trying to find the rumored source of the power of the Reyes within the ruins of the White City.
However by comparison the old ruins that was once Aizen's kingdom whilst in Heuco Mundo has had some presence dwelling from within. Neither Hollow or Arrancar dare trespass however due to the reiatsu emitting from it's once proud walls. What threat could be looming within the former citadel of power...
-----The protected and the protectees-----
During the Shinigami's absence from the Human realm, Hollows have grown unchecked, the Quincies just as much as they hold much dominance over the realm of man as the last defenders against the hollows. Feeling that the Shinigami have abandoned mankind the Quincies have had no issue or opposition crushing any pockets of resistance with their newfound allies the Fullbringers.
However the Fullbringers feel that despite the lack of Shinigami within the world the threat of Hollow and Arrancar alike have risen. Local rural towns decimated within hours as many once ruins of mankind have become desolate holds for Hollow factions.

However during all of this two amongst a handful of others from a past long since forgotten have awoken and seized opportunity during the detonation of the Sokyokyou Hill. The names forgotten by the sands of time however with the mishap and under sight by the Shinigami this darker shadow from the past will need to be addressed before it surely spoils ruin to all fronts, Hollow, Quincy, Shinigami and Human alike.
