Appearance Information
Apparent Age:28

Eye Color: water melon pink
Hair Color:black
Physical Description:Hoshi has a rather distinct appearance. A small portion of his body has been altered by Mayuri for example his neck now holds a steel ring. Another such example is the discoloration of his eyes as a side effect of the medication Mayuri created. They have a rather friendly feel that disarms his opponents and females alike (this is possibly only true in his mind). However he still misses the hazel brown eyes he inherited from his mother. Even though he has been partly remodeled Hoshi still has the quiet features he was born with. He has short black hair with a bit of grayish over tone. His hair started to turn gray from living in the maggots nest for so long. Hoshi keeps his hair parted to one side and he constantly keeps it gelled to look cool. Hoshi is rather pale skinned much like the former captain, mainly due to the time he spent locked away from light inside the Maggot's nest. However, his skin is slowly regaining its tone now that he is free. Hoshi has an average sized body, but he is more on the tall side. Not as tall as some, but tall none the less. He doesn't appear to have much muscle tone; however, he is still quite strong. His long limbs conceal is muscle. Hoshi's voice is a soft tenor that quietly erodes has he speaks. He has no real accent to speak of and is for the most part well-spoken and understandable.
Hoshi doesn't have a diverse wardrobe. He likes to carry himself in a very straightforward manner, and his dress supports this. He tends to wear a completely white shihakusho and white haori with the Kanji for his division on the back. He also sports long black gloves. They ride up past his elbow. Only the index Finger is left exposed. On the inside of the gloves is a strong grip that feels similar to sand. They were an invention of Mayuri's. Hoshi also wears a long black scarf around his neck. He usually only wraps It around once, and lets one end fall over his back and the other on his chest. Hoshi is always wearing his Captain's wardrobe unless he has to use a gigai. When in gigai form he usually wears jeans brown boots and a black button up shirt tailored in a European style.
He has a Quincy Soeki Tattoo on his back. The tattoo is written in katakana for Quincy and kanji for soeki, and dyed in Black ink. He has one more tattoo; however, he isn't proud of it. It’s a tattoo of the number 85320. It was his id number in the Maggot's nest. Behind his head just above his neck is a metal ring with a hole driven into his skull (which is used to inject his medication from a metal syringe). There are four slits around the ring to prevent any of the medicine from dripping out. The ring is on the exposed part of his neck and prevents him from growing his hair out too far as to not cover it.
Hoshi looks a bit clumsy when he walks. He usually hits his elbows on corners due to his limbs usually long length. However, in battle they propel him to extremely graceful feats. Although he walks rather oddly and is clumsy, he always keeps himself well groomed and maintains proper hygiene.
Personal Information
Hoshi likes to think of himself as a charming shinigami bachelor. He is usually cold toward other men; however, he clearly has a weakness for women. Hoshi has a playful personality to a fault. He sometimes finds himself in fights and arguments with others who misinterpret his actions. However, he can hardly remember the names of the male captains. He has a deep hatred of the Quincy's. The tattoo on his back is evidence to that.
While he enjoys playing, he has a serious side. In fact he is a bit of a control freak. He doesn't like to leave many responsibilities to his vice-captain or subordinates. He can be rather strict and critical when on the job. Despite being a control freak Hoshi is far from being a perfectionist. He usually ends up half finishing anything he starts. The only thing he cannot stop himself from perfecting is his ability to use Sayuri. This desire leaves him little interest in completing other tasks.
Hoshi does not hate other men. His attitude towards men stems from the hundred years he served as a guard in maggots nest. Every day was spent cleaning up after old men, whose mental facilities were spent. He has never forgotten how much he hated the position or the man who sent him there. It is for this reason that his aversion towards men simply cannot be helped.
Hoshi's favorite food is pan fried squid. It was the last meal he had in his gigai before being sent to the maggots nest due to a cowardly Quincy arrow. For fifty years the taste swirled around in his mind as he tried in vain to fight the Quincy's poison. To this day it is a taste that reminds him of his pride and resilience and of his hatred for the Quincy.
Hoshi has a penchant for females, but he very rarely gets close to any. He always stops at flirting. Sayuri usually makes sure that it does. However, he also knows he has not met another more ideal than Sayuri so what would be the point of growing attached is what he thinks. His weakness for women can't be understated though. He often subconsciously promotes women to seated ranks before men, unless of course the women also happen to look like men. He knows the name of every cute female shinigami in Seireitei including the ones at the academy.
In battle he likes to play with his prey and doesn't mind chatting them up. He always remains calm around them. He loves to spark their anger and make them rush him or slip up. He can be quite cruel with his words. A fight is a way for Hoshi to release his built up rage with shinigami the world and the Quincy. Also talking is a great way for Hoshi to find and opening for his techniques or prolongs the fight for him to use one of his bankai abilities.
Character Time-line:
History:Quincy Soeki-
The Birth of a Forgotten Son:
Born Amanogawa Hoshi. He is the son of The 20th Leader of The Shihoin clan and his mistress. However, he was not entitled to the right to use the Shihoin name because of his mother. Instead he took her last name. For most of his young life he lived in the 10 district of North Rukongai with his mother. Luckily he lived in a district close to Seireitei, so his life was somewhat easier than most as a child.
His mother was named Amanogawa Saya. In Hoshi's eyes she was the greatest mother imaginable. She had a classic beauty. One of his earliest memories was of someone praising his mother’s Long Black Hair that was as soft as silk. She also had beautiful hazel eyes that she passed on to Hoshi. She would often tease him of how she had hidden a treasure inside of him so that he would never forget her. Despite knowing the answer Hoshi would always ask what, and she would always reply, my eyes.
Slowly the years began to pass and Hoshi began to age. However, he noticed that he seemed to age differently than other people. He noticed that other people may only age a year or so every 100 years, but for Hoshi it seemed like every 25. He was only 100 years old and held the appearance of 4 year old when he first asked his mother why. At first she seemed pleased that he was able to notice something like that at his age, but she never really answered his question. He continued to ask her treating it like a game between mother and son until one day when she softly took his hand and answered, "Because you’re special Hoshi." The way she told him with teary eyes made him realize it was never game. After that he just stopped asking since he didn't want to upset his beautiful mother anymore.
Family Ties:
Around the two-hundredth year of his life he noticed a sudden change in his mother's behavior. She began to grow pale within a matter of months. Eventually she drew in a terrible cough. At first it didn't seem like something to worry about, but as the years passed his mother became more and more recluse. It came to the point where she would hardly ever come out of her room. Whenever, he visited her she was either asleep or coughing. Hoshi could no longer stand to see his mother in this condition. He knew there was only one option he had left. He sent a letter to his estranged father who lived behind the walls of Seireitei. In the letter he asked his father for one thing, bring someone to help his mother. Months passed without word. He had given up hope when finally three men appeared at his door step.
A gray haired man stood between the other two in the door way. Hoshi may not have known who he was at the time, but he could feel an enormous difference in an oppression air that emanated from him. Up until this very moment he had never been witness to such an unnatural atmosphere. It hurt, is what he thought to himself.
The man in the middle was dressed in a very fashionable white robe while the other two appeared to be shinigami. The gray haired man held up a small piece of paper and asked, “Are you Amanogawa's son?"
Hoshi stuttered,"Hai. I am." The man handed the piece of paper to him. It was then Hoshi realized that it was letter he had written his father. Hoshi looked up at the men asked one thing, “Are you here to help her?"
The man nodded and replied, “These two are seated members in the 4th division of the Gotei 13. They will help if they can, "Hoshi seemed a little confused by what the man said, but regardless he showed them in. He waited inside the main room of the house while the two shinigamis attended to his mother. The gray haired man waited with him. He dared not speak a word. He had no intention of learning if this man could possibly be his father. He had never met him, and to this point never wanted to. However, whether this knowledge would be revealed to him or not didn't seem to be in his hands as the man said, “I’m the 20th Leader of the Shihoin Clan. Hoshi didn't look at him instead choosing to stare down at the floor. He knew now who this man was, but it didn't bring joy to him. It didn't make him angry either. By now the words father were just words, nothing more. They held no special meaning to him.
Despite his feelings Hoshi did reply to the man, “Thank you..." He was about to thank his father for bringing help when the two shinigami walked out of the room. One walked over to his father and whispered something in his ear. Hoshi had misgivings about this right from the start. The only reason to keep something like this a secret was if it was bad news. His father sat silently without expression as he listened. This seemed like another bad omen.
He overheard his father say, “Yes, I understand. I'll tell the boy, you two can return," and he began to fear the worst. The two shinigami packed their equipment and quickly left. Hoshi sat in silence with his father for what seemed like ages. Finally his father broke the silence," You will be living in Seireitei with us from now on." It wasn't what he had expected, but it was still an answer.
To this day he still doesn't know why he had to ask his father one last thing, “Will She get better there."
His father looked him straight in the eye and said, “No." The air still palpated with a thick current of air and shock, but it wasn't coming from his father. No, a much stronger feeling was overwhelming Hoshi now. He realized the gravity of his father’s words. The mother that he had cherished for so long again, was dying.
Over the next few days Hoshi packed his belongings and waited for someone to come and bring him to Seireitei. A week later several servants of the Shihoin clan came to take them. Hoshi stayed by his mother's side as they made their way into Seireitei. His hand was always softly holding to his mother's.
Life and death among the Shihoins:
Upon arriving at the family residence Hoshi and his mother were quickly shown to a small home separated from the rest of the family. Hoshi rarely left the home. He hated this place with every fiber in his being, Other than the private physicians that attended to his mother every week the two remained alone. Apparently they weren't very fond of the 20th leader’s new son and his mistress mother. Years passed and it seemed that his father had been right.
He never approached his mother about the subject instead he just kept smiling. Eventually time began to move for his mother. Slowly he noticed her condition worsening; the physicians were no longer able to do any more for her. In the winter of Hoshi's 224th year his Hoshi's mother passed away. He mourned her alone at her funeral. Not a single member of the Shihoin family paid their respects to her.
While he didn't get along with the Shihoin family in general there were a few exceptions. Yoruichi Shihoin was one such person. He still remembers the day he met her as a child. He was standing alone by a small stream that the Shihoins used to wash their clothes. He was sitting underneath a calm sky in the later part of the day. He always chose this time instead of the early morning since he could avoid running into others. However, on that day one young girl ruined his plan. He heard the sound of trees rustling behind him. When he turned his head he saw her. A dark skinned dark haired beauty. He already knew her name. She was the 22 second successor of the Shihoin family. She stood watching him with a smirk on her face. Hoshi was a little bit upset with her attitude, but he knew he couldn't complain about what a successor chose to do. Hoshi turned around and continued on with his work. He heard laughter behind his back. When he turned around she was gone. Hoshi eyed the wooded area for her, but there was no longer a trace of her.
Slowly over the years the same pattern continued. Inevitably the two began to talk to one another. Hoshi washing clothes while she sat in the tree. Eventually she offered to teach him flash step. Hoshi took her up on the offer. For the next 50 years he casually took flash step lessons from the woman who would be known as the goddess of flash. While he didn't have the raw talent for shunpo that Yoruichi had he never became discouraged by the fact. Instead he continued to practice harder than even Yoruichi in order to keep up. He even invented a flash step technique of his own when he unknowingly pushed kidou into his feet causing a small air current through the air. The only thing it really achieved was making his and Yoruichi's hair poofy, but it was a rather fun technique to use when pulling a prank.
Eventually his efforts paid off enabling him to catch the attention of his father and the shinigami. It was then that his father told him he would be forced to join the Shinigami Academy. Hoshi willingly accepted somewhat surprising his father. He wanted to be free of the Shihoin family. He knew his father had only chosen this in order for him to serve as a guard for Yoruichi; however, he had no intention of acting according to his fathers will once he left the Shihoin family behind.
The Academy:
He was 275 years old when he entered the academy and appeared to be about 13 years old. Something strange began to happen to his body during this time. He noticed his age began to slow down. He seemed to be aging about a year every 50 years or so now. Hoshi wondered if god was trying to make fun of him by choosing puberty as the time to slow his aging. During his training at the academy he officially denounced the Shihoin name. To this day the only reason he visit's the Shihoin family is too pray at his mother’s grave. In the academy Hoshi was quickly noticed. Apparently it was extremely rare for a begging student to be able to shunpo at his level. Many of his teachers assumed he was a genius until they found out about his past. After that they only seemed disappointed that he couldn't do more. Despite this Hoshi continued to excel at the 4 areas of shinigami combat. However, this feat wasn't due to any raw talent, but through sheer effort and practice.
Nearing the end of his training at the academy Hoshi earned the right to summon a zanpakuto. At the ceremony he astonished a number of people when he summoned a Zhan Ma Dao zanpakuto. It was apparently a rare zanpakuto to summon in a released state, but Hoshi wasn't sure if he saw what the fuss was about. It was a normal zanpakuto to him. However, there was one annoying difference between his zanpakuto and the other zanpakutos. His zanpakuto came without a nifty sheath to carry it in. At first Hoshi thought this only seemed like a small inconvenience. Surely I can just use a custom sheath, he thought, but this thinking was ultimately proved wrong. Every time he tried to sheath his zanpakuto it would instantly shred the sheath. This led to Hoshi nicknaming the zanpakuto Kigokoro. While it was rather annoying that he was forced to carry his zanpakuto in hand at all times, he also slowly began to understand why.
Kido Corps Dreamer:
After graduating from the academy Hoshi took a position in the seireitei guard. He was not a part of the main 13 bantai, but his position did offer him much spare time in order to train. As a result his skill in kidou grew much quicker than usual. After only a few years he was able to master several advanced kidou. It had been two years since he joined the seireitei guard, but he was already starting to doubt what his life would be like if he stayed there. There was a small part of inside of him that wished to one day lead the kidou corps. However, he also felt that part of him was only thinking about the prestige and honor that came with the title. What it was he truly wanted was still oblivious to him since the day his mother died.
Sayuri:
It was a rather normal day, that day. Hoshi was resting on the roof of one of the main buildings in the Academy. His back and head were pressed against the red shingles of the roof. His zanpakuto lay beside him. He was staring at the sky when he noticed a raven flying above. Slowly it would glide through the air, every now and then flapping its wings. He hated the raven that was able to fly freely above the ground without limit, but as much as he hated it he loved it more. It was too beautiful not to love. It he looked over at his zanpakuto and said," One day we will be free." Suddenly his zanpakuto began to shake violently in his hand. Before he knew it the sky was black with billions of stars overhead. He also noticed that a soft round squishy object had replaced the handle of his zanpakuto. Startled, Hoshi looked up just in time to see a very pretty girl sitting next to him. She had short black hair and big crimson eyes. Her skin looked elegant soft and pale. Before he could explain the situation she swung a large katana down overhead. Hoshi quickly rolled over, just barely dodging having head severed.
Hoshi swiftly got to his feet and noticed he was standing in a jungle. Is this for real, he thought. Slowly it dawned on him that he might be inside his zanpakuto's world. However, he didn't have time to stand idly by and admire his surroundings. The girl holding the katana still seemed quite pissed off, and had started running at him with her katana above her head. Hoshi ran for dear life as he was chased through the woods. However, no matter how far he ran there didn't seem to be any way to lose her. It was like she always knew which way he was going. She was fast too. He was moving at full shunpo, but she seemed to be gaining on him little by little. Suddenly he felt a hard push on his back and Hoshi stumbled to the ground. He looked up to see the girl about to stab him through the skull with her katana. Instinctively he closed his eyes and shouted," Stop Sayuri." He couldn't explain why he chose to say that of all things. A few seconds passed and Hoshi removed his arms from his face. The girl was no longer holding the katana at his head. Instead it lay by her side.
She looked at Hoshi and said,"Oi Why should I."
Hoshi replied honestly, “Because, I love you." Sayuri seemed a little taken aback by his sudden confession and blushed. Seeing this, he quickly jumped to his feet as the worlds began to merge once again. He was brought back to the roof tops of Seireitei. However, resting in his arms was a double bladed staff. For the first time in a long time he knew what it was he wanted. He wanted to be able to use Sayuri as beautiful as a raven in the sky. He promised to himself and Sayuri that he would only dream of their freedom.
It took two years of training before he was able to handle Sayuri's released form. However now that he had a shikai he was able to take a position among the Kido Corps. Still training as Kido specialist, in secrecy he began fulfilling his promise to Sayuri by learning Tsubasa Ekirei. Unfortunately Tsubasa Ekirei was a technique that was nearly impossible to train on a daily basis if he wanted to keep it hidden. It was by far too large to be used inside the Kido Corps division. His only chance to train was when he was able to retreat to the Shihoin residence.
For the reasons it took almost 15 years for him to master Tsubasa Ekirei to a point where he could use it freely in combat. The only luck he had was being able to train with Yoruichi. At that time she was the only person whose natural abilities far surpassed Tsubasa Ekirei. Having her as a sparring partner meant he was able to go all out. He knew without her assistance it might have taken him 50 years to master the technique.
It had now been 54 years since he joined and he felt that he was closing the gap between him and the veteran members. He put learning his shikai's second ability on hold for nearly a century in order to focus on learning Kido. Eventually though he also began learning his shikai's second technique and had nearly perfected its use by the time he was 300 years old. It had taken him sometime to discover the ability since it was so different that his first, but once he had he found it he discovered it was much easier to learn than Tsubasa Ekirei. He named the technique Itonami Heisetsu.
Hoshi's Truth:
All in all he thought his future was filled with promise. He felt he was nearing the point of mastering kidou which would certainly mean a promotion, but slowly he began to realize he wasn't able to plateau to the final level. He couldn't seem to master the last 8 Kido, and he was utterly hopeless at learning the forbidden techniques that one had to learn to become a Commander. His effort seemed in vein as he was passed by younger students. Hoshi had unwittingly entered in a world that only those with talent would succeed. Frustrated and realizing that he would probably never progress further in the Kido Corps, Hoshi asked the commander for a transfer. Unfortunately he was disliked by the commander at that time. When his commander told him that he had arranged a transfer he was a little surprised that old man was willing to do him a favor. He soon discovered the Commander hadn't actually done him a favor. Within a week of asking for a transfer Hoshi was transferred to the Maggots Nest as a low ranking guard. otherwise known as a dead end. At least that's what he had heard.
Maggot's Nest:
He pleaded with the officer in charge of the Maggots Nest. However, the officer in charge told him that it was impossible to ask for another transfer so soon; he would have to wait at least 100 years before he could transfer. Meaning he probably wouldn't be able to join a squad until he was 413 years old. In despair Hoshi started serving his time at the Maggots Nest. His job was pretty terrible. Every day he was forced to look over a bunch of old men who had gone crazy. There were a few young faces but most of them seemed to be old. The saddest part of all this was he wasn't allowed near the female residents. At first he thought working as a guard would mean just making sure they didn't escape, but to his dismay he learned he was more of a nurse than guard. Every day he was forced to care for them, clean up after them, and he was responsible for making sure they ate. It wasn't all bad though. There were a few perks that came with being a guard. One was the hours. He was only forced to work 3 days a week for 16 hour shifts, so he had 4 days off every week. This meant he had 4 days to spend with training with his zanpakuto. He finished perfecting his shikai's technique in only a matter of months after transferring to the Maggots nest. The other perk was that he actually got to meet some interesting people that were locked away inside the Maggot's Nest. A few of them were just normal shinigami who had lost their minds, but there were one or two more special cases. One of them had been driven into insanity when a rare type of hollow had injected them with venom. However, because of his sacrifice the research and development division was able to create a vaccine for the venom, but it seemed there wasn't enough political motivation to create a cure to save the low ranking shinigami whose blood had been used to create the vaccine. There was too much happening now anyway to worry about one shinigami. A group of humans called Quincy who had the power to destroy hollows were starting to grow in number. Hoshi began to hear rumors that they were preparing to fight a war with the shinigami to see who deserved to protect humanity. The very idea made Hoshi laugh. How could a group of humans were unable to carry souls to soul society ever hope to replace shinigami. Hoshi paid the rumors little attention and concentrated on training.
Wisdom in an Unlikely Place:
It was around that time that he met a strange old man inside the maggots nest. He was just as crazy as the rest of the "patients”, but every now and then he almost made him believe he was sane. Hoshi assumed he was just another low ranking shinigami who had lost his marbles, but he didn't mind talking to him sometimes. It was comforting to a shinigami in his prime who had been isolated from women to talk about such topics, even if he only had a perverted old man who was crazy to talk to. Hoshi thought it was a bit annoying how the man would suddenly start telling him stories of being a captain in the Gotei 13. Like he could have ever been a captain, Hoshi thought. The old geezer would go on and on sometimes about how he trained for bankai, making it seems so easy. Hoshi tried to hide his laughter when the old man told him. "You know, Hoshi-kun, the fastest way to bankai... is to get the approval of your zanpakuto I'm telling you it’s true. There's no point in learning bankai if only one person wants to know. People aren't born with their hopes and dreams, the same goes for zanpakuto. I like clouds" Hoshi had stopped laughing by the time he had finished. He was once again starting to grow annoyed with the old man. What does this guy know, I doubt he's ever reached shikai, he thought. Hoshi sensed it was time for his nap. He patted the old man on the back, and left him to rest.
The next day he told one of the veteran guards, Kiri, what the old man said, but was shocked when the replied, "Hmm, he may be right."
Stunned Hoshi responded, "You're kidding right. You're not actually going to believe some old nut that’s locked up in the Maggot's nest."
Kiri started to laugh at his response and said, "Ha-ha, you know he used to be the 9th division captain don't you."
Once again startled by Kiri's responses, Hoshi asked, "How the heck could a captain end up in here."
Kiri stopped laughing and gave him a rather serious look, "I don't know much about it, but there's a reason there called forbidden kidou." Hoshi was for the third time shocked by his response, but this time he was speechless. He knew there was probably no point in asking Kiri anything more since he probably didn't know. Kiri wasn't the kind of guy to hide something like that.
A Demon's Bankai:
Hoshi wondered if he should actually take the old man's words a bit more serious. Maybe he had actually given him some good advice. He began to wonder if now was the time to try and master bankai. He didn't really know much about bankai, except it was the final form of a zanpakuto. That and obtaining it would mean he would be eligible to become a candidate for captain if there was ever an open position. He started to get more and more excited as he thought about learning bankai, but first he should follow the old man's words and see if he could obtain his zanpakuto's permission.
The next day he sat in his room and meditated trying to force his Sayuri to answer him. Softly he heard her voice telling him, "OK but only if you promise to never love anyone else." Hoshi laughed and quickly agreed to her conditions. From then on the two began to work together to achieve bankai. Every moment of spare time he had was dedicated to discovering Sayuri's true form. It was rather difficult at first, but eventually the list began to narrow down, but more importantly he noticed his power seemed to be growing as Sayuri's voice became more and more clear. He was even able to let her image appear in his world. However, it seemed he was the only one who could see her. Soon she was able to summon herself to his world at her own will. He was didn't mind since he was able to learn more and more her. Eventually he came upon an important clue in her personality. In fact when he realized what it meant he felt like an idiot that it had taken him this long to see it. Soon after this revelation, he discovered Sayuri's bankai form. He had spent nearly 20 years learning bankai. It was a bit longer than most, but most shinigami who learned bankai were able to train for months on end at a time since they were in the Gotei 13. Hoshi only had a maximum of 4 days to train at one time.
By the time he had reached bankai he had already spent close to 25 years in the Maggot's Nest. He noticed times were starting to change as well. The Quincys had become a rather large pain in the neck for the shinigami. They refused to stop killing hollow's they felt were dangerous to the human world. They even had the gall to ask to assist the shinigami. Hoshi couldn't understand the thinking of these Quincy's. Didn't they realize they were going to destroy the cycle of life and death if the continued this, he wondered. Neither side seemed to be backing down. Meanwhile Hoshi paid the matter little attention. Instead he concentrated on mastering his bankai. It took him nearly 40 years to master Shouten Kahen. It was a rather brilliant technique for Hoshi's style of fighting, but also just as hard to use in battle. It also required an enormous amount of spiritual energy to use. In order to prevent the technique from completely draining his stamina, Hoshi began training his body to increase his spiritual energy. This was the longest part of mastering the Shouten Kahen, but in doing so he finally felt security in his strength. He was positive that he was at least at the level of captain. However, he had decided to keep his bankai a secret up until now.
Treason Gives Way to Opportunity:
It had been nearly 90 years since he had been transferred to the maggot's nest when his when his boss told him he had been given a special assignment. He was too guard a prisoner at Senzaikyū who was slated for execution at Sōkyoku. His boss handed him the report with the details of his assignment inside.
3rd Division Captain Ishiame Matazuka is to be executed for the crimes of conspiracy to overthrow the Seireitei government. It has been discover that Captain Ishiame was planning to work together with several hundred Quincy's. Their plan was to make a gateway to soul society. Then they would proceed to the gates of Seireitei where Captain Ishiame would provide them entrance. From there they would begin to attack high ranking shinigami. Namely Captains and Lt.s after killing them Ishiame would take over as acting 1st division Captain, and working with his Quincy's comrades he would enact a system that would grant Quincy's the right to work alongside shinigami in the extermination of hollows. However, Captain Ishiame has been arrested before he could carry out this plot. Central 46 has tried and found him guilty of these crimes and he shall be executed by law of Seireitei. Amanogawa Hoshi will guard serve as one of the guards that will
watch over Captain Ishiame while he awaits his execution in Senzaikyu.
There was a small note attached to the paper telling him that he would start his assignment tomorrow. It didn't say how long it would last though. Hoshi stared at the paper in disbelief. He re-read it trying to see if he had read it wrong, but he knew he hadn't. He couldn't believe that one of the Gotei 13 commanders was going to be executed for being involved in a plot with the Quincys. Captain Ishiame was Seireitei's representative for negotiating with the Quincys, but for him to betray seireitei was unforgivable. He was overcome with anger when he realized it also meant a position as a captain would be open in the Gotei. He knew he couldn't let this chance pass him by. Captain Ishiame was executed the following week. Letting a month pass, Hoshi applied for the position of captain. He quickly impressed the first general with his unique bankai, and won the position for more famous candidates.
The Quincy Soeki Begins:
It seemed that his promotion had become the talk of the seireitei. Naturally of course though. No one other than Yoruichi had ever seen his shikai much less known of his bankai. It seemed most shocking for squad 3. They had been betrayed by their captain, and now a complete stranger they had never heard was their captain. Add to the fact that he had served as a low ranking guard for the Maggot's nest. Obviously Hoshi had his hands full gaining the trust of his squad for the first few months. Hoshi was also surprised by the amount of work captains were responsible for.
Captain Yamamoto had given him the task of destroying any Quincys that continued to resist shinigami and kill hollows. This was exceptionally hard since it was nearly impossible to find them amongst normal humans. As well there was a sudden increase in population occurring in the human world stretching the shinigami ranks.
Over the next century Hoshi was commonly nicknamed Quincy Soeki (Quincy Plague) and they often referred to him as their own personal god of death. Hoshi had taken the initiative in wiping out the Quincy menace. It wasn't hard to get support for his plans after the treason of former Captain Ishiame. Hoshi wiped out nearly every Quincy hot spot or main branch family in his time spent as captain. Only one main house and a few branch houses were left by 1907(or 1 year before the turn back the pendulum arc). It was a cold 19th of January in the human world, and Hoshi knew that he was close to completing his mission of wiping out all Quincy resistance. On that day he was given permission to attack the Hun House of the Quincy. If Hoshi was able to destroy the main branch once and for all the other Quincy families would soon fall as well. However, he didn't know he was walking into a trap that day. In front of him he saw a man hovering above the balcony with thousands of spirit particles being sucked in by his right hand. The man shouted "This started with my father Ishiame Matanuska, but I will end it Shinigami." The Quincy's arrow poured through his chest, but there was no exit would. His head began to wave from side to side and fell on his side.
Standing before him was a tall man with long black hair. Hoshi whispered, "What did you say."
The Quincy replied," You and your shinigami brethren took my father."
"You must be kidding," he muttered.
"My life would have been much better if I was," the Quincy answered coldly. “My father did the unforgivable; he fell in love with a Quincy woman. Even though he was working for the shinigami he had a son, me. However, I admire my father. For his family he was willing to betray his brethren and lead us into seireitei to prevent our extermination, but you know what happened next, now don't you."
There was a quiet glare upon the man's face as he looked down at the broken shinigami Captain. It was the last sight Hoshi would see for the next 50 years.
Return to the Nest:
Hoshi had been poisoned by a new Quincy arrow. The arrow had been laced with a special type of virus that affected spirits. The virus spread through his body and destroyed his mind. Within seconds of being hit Hoshi was left a drooling vegetable. Hoshi's young vice-captain at the time named Rōjūrō Otoribashi saved his life, and brought him back to soul society. They were able to use his blood to create a vaccine, but the medics of the 4th division were unable to cure him. They had never seen let alone heard of a virus that affected shinigami like this. Hoshi stayed inside the chambers of the 4th division for one year. Meanwhile his subordinate took over his role as captain of the 3rd division. After a year passed 4th division sent him to the Maggot's nest. He spent the better part of 5 decades locked away inside the Maggot's Nest. It wasn't until a young Captain by the name of Mayuri Kurotsuchi began to research Quincys that things began to move once again for Hoshi.
The Only Man I Will Ever Call Captain:
After learning of Hoshi's past Captain Mayuri took an immediate interest. It was 1958 when Hoshi received his first visitor inside the Maggot's Nest. He had no idea what was happening when Captain Mayuri and his Vice Captain wheeled him off to Mayuri's lab. Within weeks Mayuri had created a cure for Hoshi. However, when he woke he quickly learned that this cure came at a price. Hoshi had to agree to three terms in order to continue to receive the medication from Mayuri needed to treat his disease. The first term was too divulge any information he knew about the Quincys, which Hoshi gladly agreed to. The second condition was he had to give his body for the sake of Mayuri's research. He wasn't too excited about the second condition. However, in the end he decided it would be better to take the chance given his situation, and he reluctantly agreed. The third condition was by far the most surprising. Hoshi had to agree to become the 3rd seated member of his division, and had to stay there for as long as Mayuri was the captain. Hoshi was a bit confused by the last condition. When he questioned him, Mayuri told him that he needed his Vice captain Nemu in the lab with him, and he needed a third seat to handle his affairs while he worked in his lab. Unfortunately he was in need of a new third seat since his had recently met a tragic end, and since Hoshi had once handled the responsibilities of captain it made him a perfect candidate. He felt he knew what kind of end the previous 3rd seat had met just by looking at Mayuri's exaggeratedly evil smile produced by his face paint. His first instinct was to say no, but he gave the Mayuri's young beautiful vice-captain a look over and quickly agreed. Mayuri looked at him and said, “Good, shall we begin the experiment, Nemu." Hoshi's eyes widened as he felt a stinging pain in his left side. He looked over and saw that Nemu was holding an empty syringe.
"Whauatttt ddiddddid yoouuuu dd..dd...doo too...” Hoshi mumbled incoherently as his mouth and body went numb.
"Ha, if I had a new test tube for every time I heard someone say that in this lab," Mayuri mocked. To his horror, Hoshi was able to see and hear everything as Mayuri began dissecting his left ear. He didn't feel any pain, but the tools Mayuri used were enough to make him pass out. When he awoke he was free, but Mayuri was standing over him smiling. "Congratulations. You have just helped perfect my technique of creating artificial ears," the mad scientist said as he pointed to his ear, and detached it. Hoshi quickly grabbed his ears and noticed a hard prosthetic on his left ear. Mayuri seemed to be enjoying Hoshi's confusion and continued, “Don’t worry it works just like your old one. In fact a bit better since you can change the volume. Also I've added a hole. You'll need to keep it clean since you'll be injecting medicine into your body from there on at least once every day." Hoshi listened on as Mayuri gave him the instructions about his medication. Unfortunately he discovered that the medicine had a side effect. It covered the treasure his mother had left him. His eyes were tinted water melon pink the same color of the fluid inside the syringes he inserted daily into the back of his skull. Mayuri also told him that only someone with his condition would have ended up a vegetable. After hearing this he seemed a bit confused. He wasn't sure what he meant by condition, and when he asked Mayuri to explain he seemed surprised that he didn't know what he meant. Mayuri sighed and started to explain, “Come now. I'm sure you noticed when you were a child how you aged so quickly. You have a rare defect that creates a mutated white blood cell. When your body is exposed to the air of soul society the white blood cells attack your body making those with the disease age much faster. It only occurs in those who are born in Soul Society. Lucky for you, it typically slows down when a person hits puberty and while it never really goes away it typically wouldn't be a problem any longer. However, when you were exposed to the virus those mutated cells attacked the virus and kept it from killing you. Why do you think I took such interest in you? You have been cheating death for 50 years, and now I want to improve upon that."
Hoshi sat in silence as he listened to Mayuri. After he finished he silently whispered,"Oka-san," understanding what she had tried to say all those years ago.
Working for Mayuri was anything but boring. While it was probably harder than any other position he had ever held, he also didn't mind. Mayuri quickly grew on him when he learned more about his past. It was hard not to respect any man who had dissected the body of a Quincy. Mayuri was also Hoshi's first captain, and a genius to boot. When he fell into despair after learning the Quincy who had stolen 50 years of his life had died that night, it was Mayuri who saved him by telling him that it wasn't just one Quincy who was responsible. He then learned that the 5 remaining houses of the Quincys had cultured the virus together to specifically target him. Mayuri's words gave Hoshi a new meaning in life. To once and for destroy the Quincy's. However, he knew he would need more power in order to achieve his goals. Under Mayuri's guidance Hoshi mastered his second bankai technique, Takai Heisetsu. It was a technique that when combined with Shouten Kahen would put him at the same level of a master Quincy. Hoshi also began to study a new martial art called Judo. Within ten years of practice he quickly became the prominent judo master of the Gotei 13. Over the next 5 decades he trained his body to recover from the 50 years he spent rotting away inside the Maggot's nest. Thankfully, he was able to train with Captain Zaraki. At first he was completely overwhelmed by his power. However, as the years passed he slowly started to make headway in his spars. Soon he noticed Zaraki was begging to enjoy these little spars. It was then he knew his abilities had recovered if not grown. Slowly through his duels with Kenpachi he discovered his third bankai technique. It was more out of necessity than anything else. Without Mayonaka no Kokuso Hoshi and Zaraki's spar would have become a death match.
During his training Hoshi gave himself a mark of fear. On his back he inked himself with words Quincy Soeki written with Katakana and kanji dyed in black ink. He also learned to sheath Sayuri in a harisen when she is sealed, by centering kidou energy around his zanpakuto. He realized the Uchiwa Tengo technique he learned as a child worked in a similar way. While his Sayuri looks like a harisen when sealed he isn't able to open the hairsen like a normal one, because he can only imitate an image the size of his actual zanpakuto.
Aizen's War Begins:
When the ryoka Ichigo entered seireitei, Hoshi decided to leave the fighting to others. It didn't concern him. However, he later regretted it when he learned of the Quincy that had fought equally with Mayuri. When Aizen betrayed soul society Hoshi new he would be left behind if the war was fought on earth. He would be left behind to take up where the captain's had left if they were killed. However, the war didn't end in one battle like everyone expected. No, all it was one a battle in which both sides saw huge sacrifices.
A Soeki Returns:
Several years have passed since the war with Aizen. Given permission from the Supreme Commander and Mayuri, Hoshi has taken on the role of Captain of Squad 13.
Squad 13 was quite perfect for him. It meant access to the affairs of the human world, which also included those of the spiritually aware humans such as the Quincy. For someone who wished to eradicate the Quincys Division 13 would be the perfect place to keep tabs on them without drawing attention to themselves. For now Hoshi remains idle in Seireitei waiting for the Quincys to move so he can strike them down once and for all.

Hoshi noticed that it amplifies when near Sayuri, as if she is the conductor and all energy is flowing through and from her.
Zanpakuto Spirit:
His zanpakuto's spirit is named Sayuri. Sayuri is a very angry girl. She is exactly Hoshi's type, but she tends to try and cut him whenever he gets close. She carries her own katana whenever he enters her world. Even though she doesn't trust his intentions, she trusts him enough to lend Hoshi her strength. One reason for this is because he has made a promise to only truly love her. She sometimes gets jealous when he starts to get close to other women and will suck his consciousness into her world and chase him with her katana as revenge.
Sayuri is light skinned with short dark hair. She has deep purplish eyes. She stands around 5 feet 5 inches with a thin frame. 1:The first position is the right blade facing forward, and the left blade facing back so that the blades resemble a circle.
2:The second position is where both blades point out wards so the zanpakuto stands at full length.)
in order for Hoshi to change the position of his blades he must shout a second incantation
1.Ikouze!-activates the first position
2.Nagai-activates the second position.
The second position allows Hoshi to detach the blades when they are in the second position. However, they only detach themselves from the grip they are still connected by a 4 foot long silver chain. Hoshi can extend the range of his attack greatly with his ability as well as make his zanpakuto harder to dodge.
Abilities:
Name:Tsubasa Ekirei
Class:utility
Range: close
Description:1st technique: Tsubasa Ekirei (Wings of Pestilence)
Sayuri's first technique summons two wings that sprout fourth from Hoshi's back. Each wing in covered in thousands of black feathers. They give him a temporary boost of speed. The wings grow larger as time passes until eventually the feathers become to heavy and fall off. So far Hoshi is only able to keep this power for 20 minutes. His wings can grow to be about 50 feet wide each or a 100 foot wingspan. When using this technique he is also able to use advance houhou techniques and hakuda techniques.
Name:Itonami Heisetsu
Class:attack
Range: 25 feet
Description
2nd Technique: Tsubasa ni ikite iru(Wings of living)Tsubasa ni ikite iru is a technique that sacrifices Tsubasa Ekirei. Instead of his wings growing and falling off they fuse into a third and fourth blade of sharp sawed edges. Hoshi can control each blade with out touching it. However, neither blade has any other special ability. He can only control it from a max distance of 25 feet.
Bankai Name: Kuroiro no Tsubasa
Bankai Incantation: none
Bankai Appearance:
In bankai form Sayuri leaks out a large amount of black ink and transforms. In bankai, Sayuri becomes a single saber with no blade. Instead of being a normal bladed bankai she resembles a blue beam of light. When struck by the beam the opponent is shot with a strong charge of electricity. Also in bankai, the ink Sayuri leaks out merges into a large pair of black wings. They are completely black like when he uses Tsubasa Ekirei; however, they are featherless. Each wing is about 30 feet long, or a 60 foot wingspan. There is one more difference about his bankai state, Hoshi's body his hidden beneath an armor of a black fluid like substance that resembles ink. The armor doesn't offer any protection but it does give him the appearance of a demon.
Bankai Ability: In this state Hoshi can move faster than most any houhou user. He boasts that he can fly as fast as Yoruichi can flash step; however, he has never challenged her head on to find out if this is true.
Name:Shouten Kahen
Class:Supplementary
Range: 100 feet high and a radius of 50 feet
Description:
Technique 1: Shouten Kahen: Spreads thousands of seeds packed with spiritual energy across the ground. The seeds are able to take route anywhere and grow at an incredible rate. It takes one seed about 5 minutes to grow. Each flower is made of reiryoku and can only be cut down by a large amount of spiritual energy. When they blossom they are akin to a stock pile of explosive spiritual energy. Hoshi can do two things with the flowers. He can make each flower explode individually doing slightly less damage than an equal level cero blast but with a wider blast radius. The second thing he can do is transmit the stored energy to others. He can give the spirit energy to any one person he chooses, but he himself is incapable of receiving the stored reiryoku, and if he tried it would blow up in his face. The flowers only bloom once and last for 10 minutes. After they bloom they quickly die.
Name:Ito ni Shi
Class:utility
Range: personal
Description:
[Must have permission to from admin or gmod to use this technique in bankai]
2nd Technique: Ito ni Shi (Link of Death) is a technique that creates a rope of black light that is attached to each wing on Hoshi's back. Once Hoshi says the word kiru, the rope of light snaps in half in the middle, and each half begins to burn away. They burn for exactly one minute. During this minute Hoshi's reiryoku doubles and a powerful current of electricity flows through Hoshi's wings. After the 1 minute is over Hoshi is left paralyzed for one month. (Paralysis affects everything from the neck down, except internal organs such as the heart; so only movement is restricted not life functions.)
Name: Mayonaka no Kokuso
Class:defensive
Range: up to 1 foot for armor of electricity
Description:
3rd Technique: Mayonaka no Kokuso
When using this technique Hoshi cannot use either of his other two bankai abilities. Mayonaka no Kokuso is abilities that takes away Hoshi’s offense. Both of Hoshi's wings wrap themselves around his body reinforcing his armor. His zanpakuto is also consumed creating a strong electric charge also surrounds his armor. Hoshi's armor is now strong enough to with stand Kenpachi's attacks. However, Hoshi has no offensive weapons other than his body while using Mayonaka no Kokuso. Hoshi can also no longer fly, but he can use shunpo. There is no time limit while using this technique, but his does wear out if he is repeatedly attacked by an extremely powerful reiryoku.
Combat Information
Reiryoku Level: {Leave this blank}
Character Dynamic:
Hoshi is quick witted and has many strengths. He finds it much easier to dish out mass damage against multiple opponents, in his bankai form. He cut through a hollow average hollows in a moment. He is also a master of close range combat. Other than kidou which he seldom relies on he hardly ever is out of melee range. Another of his strengths his high speed fights. He has always prided himself on his shunpo abilities. He uses that pride to push his speed faster and faster. Hoshi is always looking for a way to move one step faster.
Hoshi's reiryoku is calm like Hoshi. Unlike his father's violent reiatsu that leaks throughout his body constantly oppressing those around him, Hoshi's reiatsu is much gentler. Hoshi always suppressed his when around subordinates or members of the Gotei 13. The only time he cannot keep it suppressed his around a Quincy. Hoshi still keeps his calm around Quincys, but his reiatsu obviously trembles with anger.
Hoshi also has a few weaknesses. For instance long range battles. He is at a distinct disadvantage when fighting opponents who use long range attacks or keep their distance. His only counter is his speed. He also has a hard time fighting a specialty powers such as a poison user like Mayuri. Although he often says that his most dreaded opponent would be a cute female Quincy, luckily he has never met one.
Fighting Style:Hoshi uses his speed and wit in battles. He fights at close range and uses shunpo to get in or stay at close range. He mostly uses his zanpakuto to attack. He very seldom uses his sealed state when fighting. He tries to never underestimate his enemy and usually releases his shikai at the start of the battle. Hoshi seldom used kidou. When he does he mostly uses them to restrain his opponent or he used kidou number 63 for a long range attack.
When in bankai state Hoshi continues to use his zanpakuto to fight, but he employs a different talent when using the ability Mayonaka no Kokuso. When in this form Hoshi surrenders his bladed wings for extra armor. This leaves him with no offense except his fists. To counter this negative draw back Hoshi has spent the last 50 years training in Judo. He cannot destroy an opponent with his judo, but he can hold an enemy back long enough to restrain or injure them with kidou.
Reiryoku/Reiatsu Abilities:
Name: Shunpo (Flash Step)
Class: Utility
Range: Personal
Read more:
A very basic teleport, this step technique allows the user to 'instantly' move from one spot to the other. Generally this is only a short range technique, but some users are able to go quite a ways with one step. Hoshi is about an average shunpo user for a captain unless he is using his zanpakuto. This is a bit of a sore spot for him since he was born into the shihounin clan with Yoruichi the flash step goddess. Currently He can average about 200 flash steps at once at around 15 m a step. When Using Tsubasa Ekirei he is almost as fast as Byakuya.
Name: Utsusemi tsubasa
Class: Utility
Range: Personal
Read more:
Utsusemi tsubasa: When using the Tsubasa Ekirei, Hoshi is able to create after images with his increase in speed. However, the draw back is that a trained eye can tell the difference between images if they look at the size of the wings and notice them not growing. Its a technique best used on stupid opponents or low level ones that are concentrated in groups.
Name: Uchiwa Tengu
Class: Utility
Range: Personal
Uchiwa Tengu: With this technique Hoshi can stimulate Kido energy into his feet and perform a flash step that creates a static current in the air. The technique doesn't cause damage to anyone, but it does make peoples hair start to poof up, because the electric current in the atmosphere works like static electricity when it touches someone. Its more or less a joke techinque.
