The Gotei have emerged from a long and bloody Civil War within the Seireitei and the Rukon. Five centuries ago the Soitaicho Xiaoyu Demizu and her Fukotaicho Kimiko Demizu found out that the ruling body of the Central Forty Six had become corrupt. The Rebels who numbered but in the thousands came to the crater and began construction of a memorial to all those who had lost their lives in the conflict. Most notably the two Soitaichos that had triggered the very war they had just ended. Now with the war being over the leader of the Rebels passed away leaving the bloodied hakama that was the symbol of the Gotei to her eldest daughter Lhin who now is in charge of the Gotei and tasked with leading them out from the ruins they where within.
Many have risen and many have fallen during the Gotei’s Civil War but there has been but a few constants. The Tres Beasts roaming the sands in honor of their Reyes. Along with them the elite squadrons of Grimmjow roamed the sands for four centuries as the Gotei imploded, but then one day they stopped. No one knows what happened to the former Espada. Those so strong they said could suck the very light from the air about them when their powers where used. Now the sands stir restlessly. Those afraid to show their face for the previous century are now emerging. Stronger Adjuncha’s clawing around trying to find the rumored source of the power of the Reyes within the ruins of the White City.
However by comparison the old ruins that was once Aizen's kingdom whilst in Heuco Mundo has had some presence dwelling from within. Neither Hollow or Arrancar dare trespass however due to the reiatsu emitting from it's once proud walls. What threat could be looming within the former citadel of power...
During the Shinigami's absence from the Human realm, Hollows have grown unchecked, the Quincies just as much as they hold much dominance over the realm of man as the last defenders against the hollows. Feeling that the Shinigami have abandoned mankind the Quincies have had no issue or opposition crushing any pockets of resistance with their newfound allies the Fullbringers.
However the Fullbringers feel that despite the lack of Shinigami within the world the threat of Hollow and Arrancar alike have risen. Local rural towns decimated within hours as many once ruins of mankind have become desolate holds for Hollow factions.
However during all of this two amongst a handful of others from a past long since forgotten have awoken and seized opportunity during the detonation of the Sokyokyou Hill. The names forgotten by the sands of time however with the mishap and under sight by the Shinigami this darker shadow from the past will need to be addressed before it surely spoils ruin to all fronts, Hollow, Quincy, Shinigami and Human alike.

The various shinigami and personel that walked around the markets and stores of Seiriete went about thier business as they shopped, chatted or generally spoke attended thier duties. As they walked and talked a few of them happened to notice th giant shinigami that was walking around the area seemingly lost in thought. It was so much his size that stood out, nor was it his Captain's haiori, rather it was the fatc his haiori was once worn by a renowned fox eyed Captain who had been well known for his habits back when he wore the Haiori.
As such it was strange for some of the shinigami to see Capt. William Mcgarath dressed in his white haiori and robes as he seemed to be thinking and trying to clear his head. "Ack, I never thought tha being a Cap'n would involve so much of paper work and less of what I be really good at. Sigh I get tha feelin you knew aboot this when you recommended me fer the job Zaraki" he thought as he walked to get some alone time and clear his head. Finding an empty bench to sit on, William rubbed his head for a moment as he rested a bit.
As he did he heard a slight laughter reasonate from the sword clipped to his side. Grasping his sword, he held it up and looked at it as he thought again, "What are ye laughing at? Ye know I be no paper pusher, so I just needed to escape a bit" he mentally said as he communicated with his sword.

Christmas was fast approaching and there were preparations to be made. If the captain of the eighth division did happen to return before the year was out, he would expect his barracks to be the most festive of the whole Gotei. Already well ahead of her paperwork, Lieutenant Nanao Ise had decide to spend the afternoon wandering the markets of the Sereitei in search of decorations and presents to please her whimsical leader and maybe treat herself for her hard work.
It was bitterly cold and the sky was threatening to release the first flurry of snow upon the residents of Soul Society, and though she knew it would no doubt cause disruption, she was looking forward to the scenery being covered with a pretty dusting of white. She wore a dark cape over her shoulders and a bright pink scarf that her captain had given her a few years ago, and as she paced the streets with less intention than she was used to, it billowed out behind her on an icy breeze.
It wasn't a gaudy bauble or quaint little snow globe that caught her attention first, rather the giant of a man sauntering along in the opposite direction a few steps in front of her. She crossed the stream of people till she stood in front of him, barely reaching half way up his chest. A deep bow dwarfed her even more, but this was the first time she had encountered the new captain, and though he probably wouldn't recognise her, it was nice to see a familiar face in the busy market.
"Welcome Captain McGararth! I trust you are settling into your new position well?"
She gave a professional smile and pushed her glasses back firmly onto her nose.
"I'm Lieutenant Ise of the Hachibantai. If you need any help at all..."
She trailed off, still looking up at the man unsure of what to do now. She decided to wait for him to dismiss her so she could continue her shopping, not wanting to appear rude.

William looked down as he saw the young and pietite fukataicho address him. Looking at her for a moment as he smiled, he nodded in a freindly manner and said, "Aye, a good mornin to ye as well fuka taicho Ise. I know who ye be, as I am drinking buddies with yer Cap'n Shisui. He's mentioned ye a lot, all of it good I can assure" he said.
Cracking his neck, he looked up at the sky and said, "I admit I have accepted me new positon, but it still takes some gitten use too. I serve din the 11th before this and I guess as a warrior, I'm still getting used to all the extra work that comes with being a Cap'n. Though Zaraki never seemed to complain oddly enough."
Her cheeks coloured at the mention of her captain; she could just imagine all the things he would have said, and despite her best attempts to supress it, she recalled everything in his voice. Feeling the pang of empitness within, she shook her head to snap out of it and followed his towering gaze upwards, listening to his reminiscing. So he was one of those types... Well, he seemed like pleasant enough company, and though she found his accent a little confusing, she decided to indulge the man.
"Well, Captain Zaraki lets his subordinates handle the administritive side while he's off getting lost and slaughtering things." A small smile indicated the humour of the statement.
From the inky gray sky a flutter of snowflakes drifted downwards, swirling on the wind. "Shall we head inside for some tea? You can tell me your plans for your division and about your adventures with the other Captains..." She knew of a little place just around the corner that would be warm and quiet at this time of day.

William looked at Nanao as he considered her offer and then nodded as he stood up at his full height and said, "Aye, aye that does sound nice fukataicho. I suppose I could use some to clear me head and get some ideas rolling through this concrete I call a skull." He then walked with Nanao towards a nearby tea shop and as he did, he couldn't help notice that the two where getting looks as they walked together. For the life of him, he couldn't understand why as William made sure to wlak next to Nanao out of respect for her.
One of the key things he saw as they walked past a few female shinigami, was that they stared at the two for a moment, before whispering amongst themsleves before giggling and pointing at Nano and William which was what confused William. Approaching the tea shop, William held the curtain open for Nanao allowing her to proceed first before ducking down low, due to his height and following after her.
She nodded with a smile as he agreed and began to lead them in the direction of the shop. At first she made an effort to keep a step behind him but when she realized that he was making sure to walk by her side, she gave up, flattered. Very few of her superiors would make such a display of respect for someone beneath them, and with her passion for order it made her feel slightly dismayed.
Still, as they passed the squawking shinigami, obviously fresh out of the academy, she adjusted her glasses sternly and flashed a death glare directly at them. Her reputation preceded her, and even though they'd never laid eyes on her before, they immediately fell silent and rushed away. Smirking as she committed their faces to memory, she decided to make sure they were assigned the least unappealing tasks their division could come up with when she got back to the office.
Finally they arrived and she hurried underneath as he held the curtain, eager to be out of the cold. A coal fire blazed in a far corner and she wound her way over, drawing a chair out for the captain with a deep bow. As an attendant scurried towards them, she stated her order ('A pot of oolong to start with'), then seated herself opposite her intriguing companion, Removing her cape and scarf, she straightened her uniform before looking to him with a smile.
"So, what are your plans for the third division, McGarath-taicho?"
Even reclining his height was formidable, but he emitted such a kind, friendly aura, she wondered how anyone could feel intimidated.

William scratched his beard as he sat down and shifted a bit to get comfortable with his head just barely grazing the ceiling as he did so. The attendant looked up at the massive man awaiting his order and thinking for a moment, William nodded and said, "I'll have the Jasmine tea" he said as the attendant took the order and left to fill it. As they did, he looked at Nanao as she asked about his plans for his division. Thinking for a moment, William nodded and said, "Well I suppose first off I'll need to get thins oragnized again. Ichimaru left a mess behind and I want to make sure me mens heads are one straight. From thar I have plans for a new training regiment."

She shivered as he mentioned the former Captains name, considering his double agent status and his unfortunate demise. Still she supposed if anyone was capable of restoring the the division to their former glory it was this man.
"A training regime eh, what did you have in mind? Did you say before that you had trained with my captain and Zaraki-taicho?"
As the waitress arrived with the tea, she carefully took the tea pot into her hand and gracefully poured a cup for the Captain McGarath first. Shunsui had given her lessons one year in the correct methods of performing the tea ceremony, but it had come in equally handy for pouring sake.
