Gaining Strength
Abilities
So far, this is what we’ve been making the most fuss about, because it requires the most regulation: creating and updating core abilities, or adding racial abilities to your profile. Briefly, we’ll go over the prerequisites for this sort of upgrade, then get on to the actual template and related processes.
So far, this is what we’ve been making the most fuss about, because it requires the most regulation: creating and updating core abilities, or adding racial abilities to your profile. Briefly, we’ll go over the prerequisites for this sort of upgrade, then get on to the actual template and related processes.
Step One - Get your Material Approved: Sometimes interchangeable with step two, make sure that whatever it is you are trying to learn, update, etc. has been processed in its appropriate board. For core abilities and related regulations, this means that they have been approved and relocated to the “Approved Developments” archive; for racial abilities, this means they have been added to the racial abilities list (which, subsequently, also means they’ve been relocated to the Approved Developments archive). I don’t really need to articulate on what it takes to complete this step, as the guidelines are listed in their various boards.

Step Two - Train: Interchangeable in the sense that this step can be done first, if it suits you, but in order for your character to learn an ability, he/she actually has to go out and earn it, this means partaking in combat, training, and/or intellectual stimulation in the field the ability falls under. For example, a shinigami learning a new Kido could be considered progressing by using various other Kido that they already know, either in focused training (with learning that particular Kido in mind), or in combat; this is just as true for any ability that you wish to learn.
When there are no other abilities off which to base your training, seek out someone who knows the ability you want to learn (for racial abilities like Shunpo), or observe and emulate them in specialized training; for abilities related to releases, like Shikai abilities, use the release in combat situations to justify the connection to its power. Obviously, this will be easier early on, such as when attaining shikai in the first place (as opposed to, say, achieving bankai, which is extremely difficult.) and abilities become harder to train and to upgrade the higher your Reiryoku Level gets, and the more abilities you have already learned or command.
Solo-Training: When training new abilities, you are allowed to use one thread that involves training alone or only with NPCs, but you must also include at least one relevant thread involving another live member in order for your upgrade to be approved.
Attainment Threads: By the nature of new abilities, you are not allowed to use an ability before it’s been added to your profile; however, the exception to this rule is in an Attainment Thread, that is, a thread in which your character actually uses an ability for the first time (and thusly learns it). In order to write an Attainment Thread, the ability in question must already be approved in its respective registration board, and any outside party in a thread must agree to your attaining the ability in their presence (this is to prevent characters from using their newly attained abilities to gain an unfair advantage in battle). Keep in mind that writing an Attainment Thread does not necessarily mean that you’ve learned the ability, so refrain from using it in other threads until your upgrade is complete.
Note: Also keep in mind that the denial of an upgrade request doesn’t nullify the training used in attempting it. You can always add more and try again until you’re approvable. Once you’re approved, however, you will no longer be able to use your training threads for other upgrades.
Step Three - The Application: So you’ve done it all; your abilities are approved or listed, you’ve trained your heart out, and you think your character’s ready to receive his upgrades. That’s when you really should be reading this.
Copy and paste the following. The title of your thread should read “{Upgrade A} for ” and then your character’s name (ie. “{Upgrade A} for Ruide”).

Character Name: Affirm the character you wish to upgrade by listing their name here.
Essential Links: All the necessary subcategories of this section must be complete before the application can be approved. See Below:
Character Profile: We need this link so we may judge your character’s current level of power, to then decide how difficult the attempted ability will be to learn, as well as add the abilities if and when you are finally approved. Do Not tell us “It’s in my sig”; use the code that’s been provided.
Approved Registration: To use this link, you will need to find the registration thread in which your ability or ability update was approved in the Approved Developments Archive. Through it, we’ll affirm that your ability has been approved, and that the ability you intend to add is identical to the one you registered.
OR, if you’re adding a Kido, Ginto, or Racial ability from the global listings, link us there instead (this section may require two links, if you’re registering abilities both from a list and exclusive ones from registration)
Relevant Threads: This is where you’ll link us to your various training threads; duplicate the provided coding as many times as you need, but no, you don’t necessarily need three or more threads in order to be approved. If it suits you, you may substitute the word “Link” with the thread’s name, for organization purposes.
Original Material: If the ability or material you are registering replaces an outdated version in your profile, copy and paste the outdated material here so that it may be removed. Be sure to locate where this information is in your profile (ie. “First Shikai Ability”, or what have you). Generally, this is only for Ability Updates.
Added Material: This is where you’ll be posting the actual upgraded sections as they will be written in your profile. This must match the original material you registered in Ability Registration, short of perhaps fixing a typo or some such. Outside of the code box, locate where the material should be added (ie. “Below First Shikai Ability”, “Above ‘Shunpo’ in Reiryoku Abilities”, etc.), then copy and paste the new material into the code box so we may add it to your profile.
Details: Any personal notes regarding the registration, outside variables, or anything else that seems relevant to the approval or denial of your application goes here.
Reiryoku Level
This is, in a sense, the easy way to get stronger, as far as regulations are concerned; gaining strength, in the sense of physical and spiritual power, as appropriate for your specialties. This process is significantly shorter, but can be just as hard depending on where you stand.

Training for a Level Increase: Gathering experience to increase your Reiryoku level is really quite easy: get into battles, get beaten up, do some beating of your own, push yourself to the limit. Solo-training is still mildly acceptable at low levels, but you’ll find that above level 10 or so, it really wont get you anywhere. Training with someone else is good for the both of you, but there is no better way to grow stronger than to come face to face with death, and that means full on combat. Obviously, this sort of growth is a lot less intricate than learning abilities, but also provides fewer options, and the more versatile your character’s build is, the more difficult it will be to gain more strength, as well as how high your Reiryoku level is to begin with.
0 to1: As the absolute bottom of the development scale, there is no real training required to obtain Reiryoku Level 1, as this represents the basic spiritual senses and inclinations developing into an otherwise simple spirit. We do, however, require you to at least play out the spiritual awakening process, which can be as simple as entering a thread with a spiritual character (because their presence can be the trigger for that development).
The Application: Once you’ve accumulated the necessary experience, you’re back here, in this thread, where you should be. The application for a Reiryoku level increase is much easier than an ability addition. See Below:
Copy and paste the following. The title of your thread should read “{Upgrade B} for ” and then your character’s name (ie. “{Upgrade B} for Ruide”).

Basic Upgrades
This would be the format for upgrades that don’t actually involve combat-relevant material. They really should be called Updates, but we’re trying to keep our registrations uniform. Come here when you need to change your appearance, personality, etc.

Original Material: Copy and paste here the section that’s actually written in your profile. Include the whole section, even parts you don’t wish to modify.
New Material: In the code box provided, give us the updated version of the section you’re modifying, including the parts that you didn’t change (so we’re taking out and replacing the entire section at once. This makes the work easier and faster for us).
Details: This time, this section is actually important, because we want to know why you’re changing your profile, as far as whatever section you choose to change.
As you might have guessed, we don’t allow multiple upgrades to happen simultaneously, so if you’re changing multiple aspects of your profile, you’ll have to make separate registrations. Don’t fret, though
