Identification
Character Name: Murano Hirato
Classification : Shinigami
Alias/Titles: None
Gender: Male
True Age: 940
Date of Birth: 7/2/1610
Division: Ninth
Rank: Captain
Appearance Information
Apparent Age: 37
Height: Six feet, three inches.
Weight: 205 lbs.
Eye Color: Cerulean.
Hair Color: Crimson.
Physical Description: Hirato could best be described as someone who is content with his natural appearance. He is also easily distinguishable from others due to his uncommon hair color. His crimson hair is always disheveled, reaching to just above his eyebrows. The back portion of his hair extends to the middle of his neck. Also, Hirato has inherited straight hair, a part of his appearance that he acquires primarily from his mother. He leaves his crimson locks to their natural color and condition. All of the outward aspects are suited for battle. The hair never obscures his vision, and this is the most important part of it to him. His voice is deep, fitting for someone of his apparent age. His stride reflects his noble upbringing, because it is determined and graceful.
Providing a definite contrast to the most obvious feature is the lone survivor of the Murano clan’s eyes. They are cerulean, reminiscent of the color of the infinite heavens above. His eyes are a darker tint of cerulean. A relatively matured face accompanies these features, suiting a man in his early thirties. Taut cheeks are also present, complementing the other features. His face also possesses slight dimples; however, no one realizes this since smiling is an extreme rarity, especially around others. Additionally, he is also very well shaven. Facial hair is something that remains for only a very short period.
Hirato is moderately muscular in build, due to his strict regimen of exercise. Dedication to zanjutsu training is also an important factor in his fitness. Working out is a daily occurrence. However, this is performed simply so he can retain his current physical figure. Fitness is invaluable to him; however, muscle is not gained in excess amounts that negatively affect alacrity. He possesses olive colored skin, due to his mixed lineage. It is a combination of his mother’s light European skin and his father’s darker Asian complexion. After an intense battle, he has a scar that runs from just above his heart to below the right side of his ribs.
His attire consists of the average Shinigami uniform and haori, covering his entire body. He wears the haori normally, the white cloth embroidered with the kanji of the 9th on top of his Shihakusho while the sleeves of it lay on top of those of his Shihakusho. They only barely reach his elbows, as any further and they would restrict movement, in his own words. The shirt is closed up to his neck, not revealing any part of his upper body. Its sleeves are slightly shorter to allow freedom of movement. He wears it loosely, allowing some space for his body in the uniform. The pants are also worn loose, but actually fit. They are the standard black color, not differing from any of the other Shinigami’s uniforms. When he is utilizing a Gigai, he prefers expensive casual clothes rather than anything formal. In his Gigai form, this Shinigami usually wears long sleeve shirts and jeans. The style of the jeans is relaxed fit, a comfortable style. The color is always faded blue. His shirts are typically a dark color, varying from black to a dark green color.
Personal Information
Personality Overview:
Cautious is an excellent adjective to attribute to this man. It is very difficult to gain his trust, due to a past betrayal. He will scrutinize your every action when it regards him as well. He is wary of anyone performing any action in close proximity to him. Someone must prove themselves to be dependable many times before any measure of confidence is given. Also, if someone does betray him, even if it is some possibly inconsequential manner, that individual will never recover that trust. The crimson haired Shinigami also is mostly solitary. Keeping to himself is his preferred pattern of behavior. In truth, he is merely intimidated by the thought of being damaged by another’s treachery.
He is also very analytical, accounting for every factor in any given situation. He never rushes into anything. A plan is formed before any action is taken. This applies to social conflicts as well as life threatening physical confrontations. Calmly considering an issue before acting is typical of this Shinigami. He thinks about how something might affect himself and others before deciding on anything. Often, pondering on a particularly troubling issue will occur for a period of several days. Being controlled by emotions very rarely troubles this man. Even if the matter is personal, all feelings remain separate from the logical thought process. Logic is the ruling factor in any determination while emotion is irrelevant in it.
Another essential emotional characteristic of this individual is solitude. He doesn’t enjoy the company of others the majority of the time, choosing instead to remain in an area by himself. The reason for this is he dislikes many people’s mannerisms. These same characteristics usually irritate him, reinforcing his general disapproval of other individuals. Quietly pondering some characteristic of the world or the human race is a paramount intellectual exercise to the crimson haired protector. He usually perceives interacting with other persons as distracting and wasteful. Most of the time, the ones he does interact with are not intellectually stimulating to discuss anything with. Therefore, he stays solitary and contemplates the duality of the world’s contrasting beauty and its despondency.
He is also very trustworthy and dutiful. The responsibilities assigned to him are never neglected, proving his dedication to his duties. Even in the event that is something unpleasant or undesirable, this Shinigami faithfully carries out his orders. Despite the sometimes menial assignments, Hirato does not complain about it. He always performs his utmost in anything he is assigned. However, he may question the reasoning behind his orders if they contradict his sense of honor, although this never occurs openly. Additionally, if one of his close comrades decides to confide something personal to him, he will never reveal it to anyone else. If he does become close to someone, their trust is absolutely essential to him. Nothing is ever done to betray that trust.
Hirato has a very strong sense of honor. This is a prominent factor in anything he decides to do. He refuses to attack a defenseless enemy, or one that is already defeated. If an enemy has already passed, he never desecrates their corpse. Respecting the rights of the dead are something absolutely integral to him. Anyone who violates these rights will warrant extreme dislike and anger from this individual. Also, even though it may not be tactically wise, attacking from behind is considered extremely cowardly by the crimson haired man; it never occurs to any of his opponents.
Idiocy is the major issue Hirato has with others. It is very difficult for him to handle someone who is particularly unintelligent or clumsy. Typically, he distances himself from a person like this if at all possible. Someone like this merely reinforces the desire for solitude already present within this Seventh Division member. One of the few things that he takes pleasure in is music, especially rock music. Listening to it is a remedy for the pressures of the day. If he experiences feelings of remarkable depression or irritation, the earphones are almost always present. The music from his Ipod can alter his mood very drastically in a short amount of time. When he is not training or attending to important matters, most of his time is consumed by enjoying some excellent music.
Considering the fact that justice is a particularly prominent concept in the mind of this man, his opinion of the Gotei 13 is one of great approval and pride. He delights in defeating hollows and maintaining the balance of the world. However, protecting innocent humans takes precedence for this sword master; allowing the death of even one blameless soul tarnishes the name of the Gotei to him. The Gotei 13 is the enforcer of justice and protector of the world; this organization represents the absolute best side of humanity to Hirato. Being a part of it also provides a sense of pride; he is allowed to free Hollows from their bonds and hopefully redeem their souls.
The human race conjures up mixed feelings in the psyche of this man. Generally, they are an irritating race that never learns from its past mistakes. Also, the majority of them are far too feeble to defend themselves from hollows. He also believes that they are a people lacking unity; they often don't even attempt to understand other cultures, often rejecting them outright. Despite this, he realizes that humanity has a considerable potential for compassion, even if they do not utilize it enough, in his opinion. Hollows, however, are another matter. Their mere existence is abominable to Hirato. Destroying them is a matter of course, but it is also a cleansing of the area they desecrated with their foul reiatsu. He dislikes them intensely, and is motivated to annihilate them whenever the opportunity arises.
Character Time-line:
Prejudice and Mournful Betrayal
Renee Ashford was the daughter of an accomplished British general. She joined businessmen aboard a merchant ship headed to Japan after being enamored by all the tales of mysterious cultures present there. Although this normally wouldn’t occur, Renee utilized her father’s influence and wealth to the utmost extent so that she was allowed to travel there. The merchants implored her to stay on the ship, but she refused. During one of her evening ventures into the city, a yakuza attempted to rape her. However, a passing samurai happened to see the scene. After ascertaining what was occurring, the samurai snapped the yakuza’s neck, killing him instantly.
The young English woman stammered her tearful appreciation, although she figured he didn’t understand anything she was saying. “It was nothing, miss. I could not call myself an honorable man if I didn’t intervene,” he responded in excellent English. Renee and Jitei discovered a secret place to meet, away from any disapproving eyes. Jitei Kotsu and Renee Ashford fell in love; a few years later, Renee became pregnant with Jitei’s child. The merchants learned of this and informed Renee’s father, who was furious, disowning her. Neither one of the lovers cared at all, but the woman’s father attempted to forcefully take her back to England.
Realizing that they needed to both escape the merchants and keep the imminent pregnancy ambiguous, Jitei requested a new, isolated home just for himself from his daimyo. The daimyo agreed to it, even though he had his suspicions. A male child was conceived a few months after the home had finished construction. It was decided that he would be named Hirato and adopt his father’s clan name. Once he had reached the age of seven, he entered a prestigious dojo. There, he learned hand-to-hand combat and pondered the philosophies of Buddhism and Zen. This crimson haired boy was discriminated against by almost everyone. Ten years later, he graduated to become a full fledged samurai.
The rivaling clans hired ninjas and used them to assassinate Hirato’s father, clearing the way to eliminate the daimyo in order to gain new territory and increase their power. Only an adolescent at the time, this incident affected all aspects of life for the crimson haired samurai. Soon, they plotted to kill the naive samurai as well to secure their victory. All the ninjas fell by the blades of more experienced samurai who allied themselves with the Kotsu clan. Their joy was short-lived; the opponent daimyo threatened to expose two younger members of these allies as aiders of a detested gaijin (barbarian). Terrified at the thought of eternal shame, they collaborated and ended their former friend’s life with their katana.
Destructive Revenge
Gazing upon his own corpse, the former samurai felt hatred and resent toward those traitors. Barely noticing the chain around his neck, this disembodied soul witnessed the daimyo bless the conspirators with ever increasing status and wealth. He plotted to destroy all the individuals involved in his death. As a result, the chain began consuming itself at an astonishing rate; however, that was ignored until far too late. Eventually, it was completely gone and transformation into a Hollow commenced. Once that alteration was finished, hunger superseded any other feelings. Possessing monstrous powers and appearance, this new creature annihilated all of the defenseless humans involved in his death.
This was not sufficient, so the inexperienced Hollow started to consume every human it could. Nothing could escape this eternal gluttony. Black robed protectors soon appeared to eliminate this menace. Due to their arrogance and naivete, blood soon poured from defeated forms. Before feasting could occur, another one of these warriors slashed through the Hollow’s head. Its eyes captured the sight of a beautiful woman as its existence ended. Darkness covered all moments later.
Awakening
Following that, the next sounds were peaceful bird songs and well dressed people expressing their happiness at the birth of a new male heir. It soon became apparent that he had entered into the Murano clan, who were a prestigious lower noble family. As they celebrated, the child watched the scene with observant eyes. Many of the members were surprised by his hair and eye color, but that factor was ignored due to their faith in this newborn. Soon, instruction in noble manners of speaking, dressing, and many other types of conduct began creating an individual capable of leading the house. During the course of this education, Hirato also displayed remarkable physical talents. A decision to enroll him in the Shinigami Academy was soon made so that those atypical skills wouldn’t be wasted.
Fundamental Edification
Immediately after, education soon commenced in the natural manner that it did for all new students of the Academy. He learned the ways of Kido, practiced swordsmanship, and listened to Shinigami discuss topics vital to one’s survival as a warrior. Of course, hand-to-hand fighting was also honed by sparring and the lessons from the teacher. The actual written assessments were effortless to pass. On the contrary, Kido turned out to be an extremely difficult subject for this man; some ridiculing even occurred from the other students. This was compensated for by the talent he possessed in hand-to-hand techniques and especially Zanjutsu. With a sword, almost no one could match the aptitude of the one they mocked as a failure in Kido.
The reserved man graduated six years later. He was in the top ten percent of his class in Zanjutsu and hand-to-hand combat. Despite his lack of ability in Kido, the Murano elders were very satisfied; soon, the Seventh Division gained him as a new, unseated member of their ranks. It was the perfect division for him; no one was exceptionally gifted regarding Kido. In contrast, the majority practiced their prodigious Zanjutsu skills. Rising up the ranks soon commenced as the new member’s dedication and aptitude were recognized.
Forlorn Delight
Although he soon became the Fifth seat, another matter was troubling him. Teina Hoshu, the Seventh Division’s Third Seat and the object of many mens' affections, seemed strangely familiar. It was not long before the two of them met. She was beautiful, stunning everyone with her clear blue eyes and brown hair; Teina was easily one of the most talented members. Intellect was something the two of them shared. Soon, they were enamored with each other; the respective elders of the Murano and Hoshu clans agreed to a marriage. However, a mere three days before the wedding, the fiancee was slain by an especially powerful Hollow.
During a regular sweep of the Wilderness outside the Seireitei, the Seventh Division Shinigami patrolling encountered a Hollow. Although this was commonplace, its exceptional power and agility were not expected. These shinigami were consumed by the monster; however, Teina sensed that something was horribly wrong and traveled very quickly. Being one of the strongest members of the entire division, she didn’t anticipate any actual danger from this meeting. She arrived, intent on avenging her comrades. Due to the beast’s agility and intelligence, the female Third Seat’s blood soon contributed to the already considerable pool. Her Captain discovered their location and destroyed the Hollow.
However, Teina’s wounds were far too severe and she perished almost immediately upon discovery. Hirato was accompanying the Captain during this time; he hurried to her blood soaked, mortally wounded form in time to hear her final words: “I apologize.” He expressed his considerable love for her as she passed away. The funeral was scheduled for a week later; all of the various high-ranking members presented themselves, disappointed at the horrific occurrence. Tears flowed endlessly from the cerulean eyes of the former fiancé. This event affected all aspects of the Shinigami’s life. Loneliness and isolation became the norm, driving this man to train with increased effort so that death would never trouble any future treasured friends.
Galvanizing Improvement
With the death of the division’s Third Seat, many members advanced in rank. This affected the Fourth Seat in the most obvious manner, considering that he had now attained the status as one of the top three members in the entire squad. However, growth was also occurring at a noteworthy rate for the bereaved crimson haired man. Quickly, his strength increased considerably, especially so with the procurement of almost complete mastery over his Zanpakuto’s Shikai. Physical training also continued; hand-to-hand proficiency was heightened due to arduous practice with the current Fourth Seat. Intellectually, many varying strategies came into existence as Hirato pondered new manners of attacking and defense. Aptitude with Kido was augmented, although not to that significant a degree.
The Fourth Seat did not retain his position for a notable period of time, though; due to his overconfidence in his own abilities, the man attempted to battle several considerably powerful Hollow without any assistance. He was slaughtered by these abominations promptly. Still fairly inexperienced in the operations of the higher tiers of Shinigami, the individual of mixed blood was forced to assume the rank of Third Seat. The Captain was satisfied with the transfer of position, though. He believed that the former Fourth Seat was far too conceited for his own safety. The mature man of mixed blood continued to progress in his abilities in Zanjutsu and especially in close combat. Particularly evident was his development of mastery in grappling techniques; although this was somewhat unusual for a Shinigami to learn, it was soon taught to the Seventh Division. After a short while, the whole of the squad looked up to the inheritor of the Murano clan as an honorable and capable top leader.
Paramount Triumph
Venturing into Karakura Town along with several companions, the young noble barely managed to defeat their opponents, a small group of particularly powerful Hollow. He received a severe wound to the chest, eventually becoming a permanent scar while the entire group returned exhausted and injured. Over the course of many inactive weeks, his injuries healed, although the scar remained as a reminder of how far he still had to go. When he was fully healed, he isolated himself for fifty years of intense training, accompanied only by his Zanpakuto. During the training, he unlocked and completely mastered the third and final ability of his Shikai. After difficult Kido training with the Captain of the Kido Corps and Bankai training conducted by Captain Ise, word of his accomplishments spread among the highest ranks of the Gotei 13 and six captains recommended him for admission as a white robed leader while the remaining six accepted him. Hirato became the Captain of the 9th Division, displacing Shuhei Hisagi, who was transferred to 3rd. Where his path leads from there has yet to be determined, but it will certainly be significant in the storm that is to come...
Zanpakuto Name:
Kaimetsu Senku (Herald of Annihilation.)
Ability Type: Elemental.
Release Phrase: Execute, Kaimetsu Senku!
Sealed Description:
The sealed form of Kaimetsu Senku is mostly an average katana; however, some factors are not standard at all. Its guard is emerald colored, and it also has an overall gold tint to it. Sapphire adorns the hilt, giving the weapon the appearance of something pertaining to royalty. Kaimetsu’s blade is the length of any other Zanpakuto, but the color of the blade is slightly darker than any others’. Covering that particular steel are red Japanese kanji. If translated, it would read, “This is the Executioner’s tool of justice.” Aside from the unusual color scheme, the crimson haired man’s katana appears fairly mediocre. Its sheath is black tinged with dark green, and it is a standard sheath otherwise.
Inner World:
Inside Kaimetsu Senku, a peaceful English coastline can be gazed upon. Waves lapping against the sand and the wind whistling its melody can be heard if one were to enter this place. However, composure is not always present. Emotions affect the physical manifestation of the dimension of the Zanpakuto; when extreme depression is dominant, a grave appears on the landscape with the name Teina Hoshu. Inversely, if aggravation occurs, the Zanpakuto spirit is executing condemned prisoners at a site along the coast; a crowd of clamoring witnesses is also present. Walking on the water is possible for Hirato in this realm, even if he does not do so very often. He prefers to remain on dry land.
If elation is the ruling emotion, the scene changes to one of this same coastline in the late evening; the lowering sun’s rays can be seen reflecting off the surface of the water. The clouds are a myriad of beautiful colors. Sounds of gentle wave movement and nocturnal creatures are heard when in this state. This does not occur often, as it is very difficult to affect the crimson haired man in such a positive way.
Zanpakuto Spirit:
A large, muscular man clothed in executioner’s clothes is the spirit appearance of Kaimetsu Senku. This outfit consists of a simple linen shirt and pants; also a plain white apron covers his entire body. His face is also concealed with a black mask that possesses openings for the eyes. Typically, there is no blood splattering this outfit; however, during an intense battle or when Hirato is in a state of extreme aggravation, blood may stain the clothes. Additionally, these muscular arms hold a bulky axe used to punish criminals.
Kaimetsu Senku is even more reserved than its wielder; before replying to anything, it ponders the matter for quite a length of time. Rational thinking always transpires before any words are uttered by this Zanpakuto. It never speaks before coming to a rational conclusion. This weapon is truly amiable if it is not angered, however. There are two definite methods of irritating Kaimetsu Senku; one is forcing it to repeat itself multiple times during a short time period. The other is if very important decisions are made by the master without consulting his partner; this type of behavior is utterly despised by Kaimetsu.
Typically, Hirato and Kaimetsu enjoy each other's company very much. They usually act more like best friends than master and weapon. Their meetings are usually quite calm, even though this is not always the case. Most of the time, they are training together in order to achieve greater strength; otherwise, they are engaging in intellectual discussions of some sort. Problems do not often occur between the two of them. If they do, the issue is primarily minor and easily resolved.
Shikai Description:
After being released, the Zanjutsu expert’s weapon appears drastically different. It transforms into a black staff as long as the wielder. This staff has three katana blades on each side, divided in much the same way a trident is. However, unlike a trident’s blades, those of Kaimetsu Senku’s Shikai are approximately the same length. Also, the hilt is a combination of black and silver; the guards are a mix of colors as well. Its two guards are a mix of black and carnelian red, a reddish brown color. Even though these blades are similar in length to katana blades, they are also curved inward for maximum damage. Despite this, they are not curved enough to risk the safety of the handler.
It is six feet and two inches long, similar to its master. Each of the individual blades is sixty centimeters long.
There are a variety of ways in which it can utilized in battle. Obviously, the blades can be used to attack and defend from various sword strikes; however, many other methods of battle exist with this strange weapon. Silver crescent symbols cover the entirety of the staff portion, and the blades are covered in nearly identical red crescent symbols. Additionally, there are two violet dragons running the whole length of the staff, contrasting with the silver crescents.
Abilities:
Name: Kaze Rijin(Wind Sharp Sword)
Class: Offensive.
Range: Short. The maximum range of this attack is five feet, but it can be utilized at a minimum distance of one foot.
Description:
The majority of the time, preparation must occur before the actual ability is used. Utilizing his exceptional reiatsu control, Hirato manipulates the air so that it is spinning quickly around each one of the six individual blades. However, this preparation isn't required; it simply increases the lethality and power of any potential attack. This ability may be used without prior preparation, but it is not very powerful at all. The wind is controlled and shaped until it resembles the actual blades it is circling. Then, the wind may either simply remain closely wrapped around the blades to enhance the cutting power of attack or they could hover a few inches from the end of the blade so that the length of the weapon is increased.
Although it is merely air, it is controlled in such a way that inflicts damage on the opponent. In the event that the wind serves as an extension of the blades, it spins quickly enough that it can actually pierce the opponent's body. If an opponent is skilled enough to recognize that this attack is occurring, dodging is typically not particularly difficult. This ability can be used a maximum of ten times during a fight; any more and Hirato immediately collapses. It is able to be maintained for up to half an hour, at the absolute longest. Finally, Kaze Rijin does not possess any defensive capabilities at all.
Name: Arashi Shugo(Tempest Safeguard)
Class: Defensive.
Range: Medium. Its maximum range is twenty feet and the minimum range is five feet.
Description:
With his refined reiatsu control, he manipulates the air until it is a quickly spinning, wall-like structure. This may seem impossible, but the air becomes rigid since it is being highly compressed and spun fast at the same time. It is quite a powerful defense move, able to protect the user from most physical attacks and some low level energy attacks. He can create the wall no matter how he holds his Zanpakuto. This only needs to occur for a few moments, so it is not a considerable disadvantage. The amount of time required to create it is about ten seconds.
The wall can remain for a total of six posts; however, keeping it active for this length of time would exhaust the user totally. Its greatest size is ten feet in width, covering about one whole side of Hirato. The size may vary, though. Its smallest form is five feet, consuming about a hundredth of his reiatsu. The intermediate size is ten feet, which takes approximately one fiftieth of the total reiatsu. Finally, the largest size, which is twenty, instantly consumes a twenty-fiftieth of Hirato's reiatsu, making it difficult to maintain for extended periods. The largest size covers all sides of Hirato.
Name: Shikon no Kaze(Fangs of the Wind)
Class: Offensive.
Range: Long. This ability has to be used at a minimum distance of five feet and its maximum range is thirty feet.
Description: Hirato manipulates the air with his refined reiatsu control, spinning it around each of his Shikai's six blades like he does with his first ability. However, after it becomes as compressed as possible and is spinning around the blades as fast as it can while remaining in that compressed form, the Third Seat fires it at the opponent. These projectiles are shaped like wolves' fangs and fly toward the opponent at a rate of fifty miles per hour. Aside from their speed and damaging capabilities, Hirato can also make them disperse and reform them to attack the enemy from another angle. Hirato mastered this third and final Shikai ability after fifty years of difficult training.
Functionality:
The functionality of Hirato’s Zanpakuto lies in the unusual form of the weapon in its Shikai. When the first release commences, the typical katana is transformed into a staff with three curved blades at each end. This staff is the length of a Bo staff, while the blades are slightly shorter than average katana blades. Functionality exists because instead of a standard weapon, which can mostly only slash or stab, with curved blades these techniques can be performed quite differently. Although slashing or stabbing may occur, due to the curved nature, this is much more damaging. Slashing rips off quite a bit more flesh when the attack occurs with a peculiar blade; stabbing is also much more dangerous, since the curved blades are capable of doing a considerable amount of internal damage. Also, the wounds inflicted upon the opponent are usually much more difficult to treat and sometimes may cause massive blood loss very quickly.
It is six feet and two inches long. The weapon's maximum reach is approximately seven feet. Also, the actual staff of the Shikai form may serve as a shield against attack. In addition, it may serve an offensive purpose to strike the adversary. Finally, the length of the staff might be utilized to disrupt an opponent's balance by tripping them up. The openings between each of the smaller individual swords are capable of being used to catch and even disarm an opponent.
Reiryoku Level: 18
Character Dynamic:
The Seventh Division member is somewhat balanced in the physical aspect. Due to the fact that he possesses a considerable amount of muscle, his ability and speed are decreased. Usually, Shunpo is required to dodge attacks for this man. In the event they are not, countering with the sword is the preferred method of defense for this Shinigami. Although he specializes in Zanjutsu, considerable aptitude in hand-to-hand fighting exists. In close quarters, this man will draw upon all his skills in Jujitsu to defeat the opponent quickly. Grappling and striking are the methods of attack in close combat; however, the lone remaining member of the Murano is much better in striking. His strikes are powerful and stunningly quick for his size. Having said that, grappling is often utilized to effectively disable the adversary. He spars religiously to enhance and maintain these skills of striking and grappling; he also practices the strength behind his attacks by striking a piece of bamboo countless times every day.
The crimson haired individual has one major weakness in the physical aspect, which is agility. Someone much faster than him might be able to inflict severe damage and escape without a scratch. This is mainly due to the fact that attacks stemming from the Zanjutsu specialist are mainly more power than speed. If an opponent can evade these powerful strikes, the cerulean eyed Shinigami might be defeated. However, he compensates for this fault by possessing incredible physical constitution; those quick blows will have to be in great number to significantly affect this person. Running is his way of attempting to increase his alacrity, although this may not be the best method.
Shunpo and reiatsu control are the most prominent aspects of spiritual power for this individual. He is regarded as the fastest Third Seat, in terms of Shunpo capability. Many times, attacks that would normally be too quick to evade have not landed due to aptitude in this area. Reiatsu control is also a specialty; regulation of the amount of reiatsu an adversary can sense from him is an intrinsic matter. Appearing to possess much less spirit energy than is actually present has been a practical tactic in deceiving enemies. It is quite a useful talent, since opponents often lower their guard due to the perceived lack of danger. Channeling reiatsu into normal physical attacks often occurs to increase the amount of damage dealt.
Kido has become fairly easy to control. As a result of his training with the Captain of the Kido Corps and Captain Ise, he has learned how to use even high level Kido effectively and efficiently without being exhausted. In addition to that, as a result of the training, his strategic thinking has expanded so that Kido can be seamlessly integrated into a plan or entirely compose one.
Reiryoku/Reiatsu Abilities:
Name: Shunpo (Flash Step)
Class: Utility
Range: Personal
Description: The shinigami’s signature movement technique, using extreme speed and acceleration to overcome the eye’s capacity to trace movement. This ability can be used to travel quickly from one place to another, or in combat by a skilled practitioner to get a jump on the enemy. Using this skill repeatedly over the course of a battle is ill-advised, as it does not take long for the opponent’s eyes to adjust to the high-speed movement.
Name: Konso (Soul Burial)
Class: Utility
Range: Touch
Description: Shinigami use this skill to transport Plus spirits, forcefully or otherwise, to Soul Society. This is a derivative of the zanpakuto’s natural ability to purify hollows by splitting their masks.
