Deep in the night, a ripple passes through the dark. The shinigami of Soul Society fall in place, cast into slumber by an unseen force. Mysterious will-o-wisps pass overhead, and eventually dawn comes. When they awake, shinigami find their swords have fallen silent, but just as the panic begins to set in...

They appear.

The spirits of the blades, in the flesh, run rampant as their hapless shinigami counterparts try to placate them. The spirits seem to be leaving the Seireitei, maybe even against their conscious will.

Where are they going? Can they be stopped?

We've talked about it, it's time to do...the Zanpakuto Unknown Tales arc, SoulxSociety style! This arc, which I've dubbed Silence of Swords to differentiate it from the anime arc, will be an omake, and as such take place completely within the Omake board. But make no mistake, it's set in Soul Society, everywhere in Soul Society.

You will control both your blade and your shinigami in this arc, but that doesn't mean they have to be in the same place at the same time.

A few things before we get to the meat of the thing:

• The arc is for shinigami only. There may be other omake arcs for other races.
  
• You must register your zanpakuto in this thread to use it in the Omake.
  
• There will be five Major threads in this arc (possibly more), which everyone will be expected to participate in. These threads my be split at my discretion if I feel they are too large.
  
• Outside of these threads, do whatever you'd like with your now separate shinigami and Zanpakuto. Make them fight, make them fight others, anything goes but remember the plot.
  
• No metagaming. None of your shinigami IC should know what's going on until it would make sense for them to do so. After meeting a few zanpakuto and giving their words and actions thought they may have some idea of where they may be headed. After they first wake up? No. Same goes for your zanpakuto.
  
• If you sign up for the arc you are expected to participate through the entire thing unless your characters are all rendered unable to for any length of time.
  
• Please let us know if you'll be unable to post for a long time. We may need to skip you to keep the plot moving.

[Tamano Ame]

Zanpakuto name: Shichishitou
Owner: Tamano Ame
Weapon: A seven-pronged sword identical to Ame's shikai.
Abilities: Identical to Ame's.
Character Dynamic: Shichishitou is generally the polar opposite of Ame in battle, attacking brutally with little regard to defense and conquering the enemy by using his own strengths to conquer whatever the enemy can throw out. He is quick-witted and sly, willing to trick and sweet talk opponents and while he is brutal in his attacks he is not reckless and rarely leaves himself open to attack. Shichishitou wields his blade with either his mouth or his tails, which are prehensile enough to grip the blade but not used as often. He only ever uses the blade to defend if completely backed into a corner, he has mastered using it to slash and rip even though his form would seem very poorly suited to using a sword at all. Shichishitou prefers to fight alone, and never thinks of others in his strategies.

[Genshi Karii]

Zanpakuto name: Doukeshi
Owner: Genshi Karii
Weapon: Karii's yoroidoshi (stolen), a small box with slot reels that serve to activate his abilities.
Abilities: Same as Karii's, but the slots are rigged in his favor and Doukeshi can use any ability with impunity.
Character Dynamic: Doukeshi fights much like Karii, but is much more deadly. He is agile and tricky, but very willing to kill to win. He lacks the "fun" demeanor Karii has, instead opting for an outwardly malicious and sadistic angle. Strategy doesn't play as much of a part in his fighting, he merely does whatever seems to be a good idea at the time.

[Asamoya Zabuza]

Zanpakuto name: Gaidoku [literally meaning michevous poison]
Owner: Asamoya Zabuza
Weapon: Unlike Asamoya who carries his sword around his shoulder, Gaidoku carries his sword proudly in his sash around his waist, its size is usable by its wielder and thus is many times bigger than the original, made to fit gaidoku`s grip firmly while sending powerful shockwaves at his opponent`s with every swing.
Abilities: Same as Asamoya`s, plus a potential flamethrower breath should he get angry.
Character Dynamic: Huge, slow and cumbersome would be the first expression one get`s when gazing at Gaidoku, while he is slow he is suprisingly agile, the upper half of his body works indifferently than his lower body, meaning like an owl the upper body can rotate freely 360 degrees whilist still remaining attached. Gaidoku relies on pure strength to do his bidding, but also likes to rely upon strategy and allies if any, this does not mean he will immidietly count them in should he find himself in a battle, but will ask politely for help if in need and is not something that would damage his pride. Gaidoku is also slow to get serious, and unless cornered he won`t release his bankai right off the bat, he likes to gauge his opposition and kill any opponents standing in his way.

[Kaoru Murano]

Zanpakuto name: Akai Tsukihime
Owner: Kaoru Takahata
Weapon: Her shikai fan (5' tall), small tanto knife (stolen from Kyouya's weapons stash)
Abilities: Same as Kaoru's usual, wind manipulation.
Character Dynamic: Unlike Kaoru's style of fighting which uses both defensive and offensive styles, Akai is the type of zanpakto that goes head first into a battle without much thought to her own safety. She is a relentless fighter, but does have her moments where she pays heed to her opponent and shows a bit of mercy, but those times are rare and need special conditions before the small child will do so. She will attack if she feels threatened and will not fight fair at times. Her style of fighting can be considered a brutish and berseker type, much like Kaoru's own style of fighting. Since Akai has no flood gates, she does not hesitate in battle like Kaoru does, and often her emotions dictate how the battle with progress. If Akai happens to like you (good luck with that), she'll protect you no matter what and keep any harm from you. However, if the opposite happens and she doesn't like you (the more common option), she will not hesitate to take you down with everything she has. Her temper is what is to be avoided, as well as any emotion, really. Since Akai is as wild as the wind she controls, it will be hard to placate her should someone even attempt so. She is fast on her feet and her strength is high as well, much like Kaoru's own. She does not guard her tongue as closely as Kaoru does, nor does she keep her power so closely guarded like Kaoru does.

Note: Please note that the seals placed on Kaoru by Kyouya Morinozuka are still in effect and do bind Akai Tsukihime as well. The second kido does have an effect on the young zanpakto and should she try to break it, she will have the same side effects of the kido like how Kaoru would if she did it.

Zanpakuto name: Shi No Toketsu Ryujin
Owner: Takashi Yukimura
Weapon: Her usual shikai giant scythe with the chain attached, her bankai tanto sword with 300 foot black chain.
Abilities: Same as Takashi's both bankai and shikai, Ice/water manipulation
Character Dynamic: Much like Takashi's own fighting style, but hers is just a bit more wild and dangerous than his. She cares nothing for those around her, not even her own master, so she does not care who she is fighting much less who she hurts in the process. She uses her scythe the same as Takashi, both to land hits and defend, all the while fighting hand-to-hand in it as well. She is fast on her feet as well as in her mind, taking great care to analyze her opponent before making any final moves. She does whatever she wants and does not care if others see her more unstable nature. Her personality is the same as her bio. Friend or foe, Shi No Toketsu Ryujin will kill whoever or whatever gets in her way.

[Keiko Himura]

Zanpakuto name: Ijona Jikken
Owner: Keiko Himura
Weapon: NA
Abilities: NA
Character Dynamic: With his immense stature, Ijona Jikken uses his physical form and the strength this lends him to create devastating chaos and destruction. Though it might appear mindless, he is focused and driven, but only on one goal: to consume the flesh and blood of the living. The thrill of the fight is lost on him, but the tantalizing scent of the weak and wounded is enough to drive him into a frenzy and, though slow to react, he can generate terrific momentum in less time than you might think. His skinless form can regenerate over time, and provides a surprising defense; anyone foolish enough to come into direct contact will suffer severe burns. He is fond of tormenting those he seeks to devour, and is not above forming pacts if he believes it will hasten the annihilation, but as he is obsessive and unpredictable he does not make a great ally and is difficult to control.

[Hirato Murano]

Zanpakuto name: Kaimetsu Senku
Owner: Hirato Murano
Weapon: Kaimetsu Senku carries around a large axe which he uses as his main weapon in combat.
Abilities: Kaimetsu Senku's abilities are the same as Hirato's, but he can completely control his Bankai level abilities and can use his abilities with his bare hands.
Character Dynamic: While Kaimetsu Senku's personality outside of battle mirrors Hirato's and is even more thoughtful and cautious, his personality in battle is completely different. Once fighting, Kaimetsu Senku will analyze his opponent's abilities then annihilate them. It should be noted that Kaimetsu Senku seeks out battle from any and all opponents he considers worthy of his time.

Zanpakuto Name: Gikyo | Heroic Undertaking
Owner: Genkei Chikao
Weapon: Sealed Zanpakuto.
Abilities:

NAME: Kyoukamahou Enjin | Intensify Magic: Circle
TYPE: Supplementary
RANGE: Self / Range of Kido
DESCRIPTION: This technique uses the crystal on top of Gikyo to amplify Kido spells that are cast from it. This basic ability is the starting ability of the Shikai, only doubling the strength of all Kido cast by it, at the cost of double the reiatsu.

NAME: Kyoukamahou: Sorenenjin | Intensify Magic: Twin Circle
TYPE: Supplementary
RANGE: Self / Range of Kido
DESCRIPTION: This technique is an advancement of the Kyoukamahou Enjin, in that it increases the power amplification from 2 to 2.5, increasing the cost by the same amount.

NAME: Kyoukamahou: Shuenjin | Intensify Magic: Final Circle
TYPE: Supplementary
RANGE: Self / Range of Kido
DESCRIPTION: The final advancement of the Kyoukamahou Enjin, this technique increases the power amplification from 2.5 to 3, increasing the cost by the same amount.

NAME: Kagomahou: Fuuinkekkai | Divine Magic: Sealing Barrier
TYPE: Defensive | Offensive
RANGE: Dimensions of rift are 75x25x25m
DESCRIPTION: Simply the name given to the rift that is created when the Bankai is activated, the barrier is 75 meters in length, 25 meters in height and 25 meters in breadth. The ability creates a huge box-like barrier around both Chikao and the target(s) within the area, before sealing the walls and trapping all inside it.

NAME: Kagomahou: Tenodemashi | Divine Magic: Heavenly Presence
TYPE: Supplementary
RANGE: The range of the active Fuuinkekkai
DESCRIPTION: Again, simply the name given the apparition of Gikyo herself within the rift. This ability is automatically activated whenever Chikao finishes the Fuuinkekkei rift, Gikyo appearing beside Chikao. She cannot produce her own reiatsu however, as she is given a set amount by Chikao when the ability is used, by splitting Chikao's remaining reiatsu when she appears. He can also extend her presence within the Fuuinkekkai by using reiatsu to fuel it.

NAME: Sanjuusoumahou: Oujitessen | Triple Layered Magic: Folding Iron Fan
TYPE: Defensive
RANGE: Range of active Fuuinkekkai
DESCRIPTION: Another use for the Fuuinkekkai is defense, used to protect not only the caster, but the others inside it against very powerful attacks and separate injured allies from hostiles. This ability triples the strength of the walls of the rift, at the cost of Chikao's movement and double the reiatsu originally needed to power it.

NAME: Kagomahou: Okisoku | Divine Magic: Great Restraint
TYPE: Offensive
RANGE: Range of active Fuuinkekkai
DESCRIPTION: Simply the name given to the immense pressure from the reiatsu that makes up the rift, in which even Chikao himself heavy and hard to move. The speed of everyone within the rift is halved, except for Gikyo and Chikao. Chikao's speed is is reduced by 25% and Gikyo's is reduced by only 12.5%, due to their familiarity with the pressure given off by the reiatsu.

NAME: Kagomahou: Shinju | Divine Magic: Divine Gift
DESCRIPTION: This ability is derived of another of Gikyo's Bankai abilities, Kagomahou: Fuuinkekkai, which creates a powerful barrier around Chikao and anything in a specific area. Now, due to the fact that anyone inside said barrier is quite literally untouchable, you're probably wondering how this works. Well, it is very similar to the Menos Grande's ability called Negación, which essentially isolates anything within the target area from their current dimension, sending them to another dimension, which just happens to look exactly similar to Chikao's Inner World.

Now, take that concept and minimize it in your head, so that only one person can fit in that barrier at a time. By definition, they have technically not only dimension hopped, but also time traveled, due to the differences in the perception of passing moments in each dimension. By locking oneself within the barrier, moving forward several steps and then releasing the barrier, the user will be transported to a different place in their original dimension, meaning it is as if they have used Shunpo. However, due to the massive time differences between the two dimensions, several seconds in the alternate dimension, is equivalent to 0.003 milliseconds in the real dimension, making it much faster than Shunpo.

This ability has millions of uses other than just transport to those who are skilled enough. For example, it can be used as an ultimate defense against attacks if the user creates the dimension barrier with a hole facing the attack the moment before it is set to connect with the user. This not only sends the assailing threat to the other dimension and away from the user, but also makes it appear as if it has hit them, which, with a bit of acting, can allow for an effective surprise attack later in the fight. Another is close combat defense, with which this technique is at it's most dangerous. Similar to it's ability to defend against ranged attacks, this ability can also defend against close combat physical attacks, by allowing the target limb to enter the barrier portal, before closing the barrier, tearing it clean off.

It's cost, despite how powerful the technique is, depends entirely on the size, shape and power of the barrier, costing anything between a level 30 Kido, to a level 80 Kido, which is a large risk to the caster, who has no idea how much it's going to hinder them in combat.

Of course, it has a rather large flaw, which is it's ability to backfire. If the user loses control of the barrier when creating it, there is a possibility that it could create a black hole of sorts, which condenses everything into it's reishi form, pulverizes it and sends it to an unknown point in time and space. If that happens, everything is at risk. The Human World, Hueco Mundo, Seireitei would all be slowly dragged into the abyss, crushed and spat out and yes, that includes the user of the technique too. As such, it has been labelled a Forbidden Technique, only to be used at such a time where there is no other option, a do or die moment.

- In addition, Gikyo has access to all of the Kido spells Chikao currently has access to, however they are slightly more crude, less accurate and less powerful.

- Has a deep mental connection to Chikao, allowing them both to predict each other's movements.

Character Dynamic:

- Same as Chikao's, though perhaps slightly more violent.

[Kurosawa Ryou]

Zanpakuto name: In'ei no Ningyôtsukai (Spirits named In'ei, Ningy, and Sukai respectively.)
Owner: Kurosawa Ryou
Weapon: In'ei, Sukai, and Ningy each wear a copy of Ryou's gauntlet with blades. Though Ningy has a habit of simply using the katana form of the sword because she finds it more effective to 'slice and dice' with.
Abilities: Same as Ryou's though the number of creatures they can summon doesn't seem to be divided up between the three of them. Meaning they can each summon the maximum number the ability allows.
Character Dynamic: Despite its playful and sometimes bloodthirsty nature, the spirit is indeed quite protective of its owner. Their relationship is very close, which relates more to Ryou's anti-social nature and also to the fact his Zanpakuto reminds him of his dead siblings. Especially when it takes it's more practical form, of shrinking down into three odd females wearing an different clothing covered in dragon symbols, and acting like three annoying children. One way to cheery... the other way to serious... and the middle is neutral. The happier one is a bit smaller with pink hair and wearing dragon scale armor. Ningy has a naïve nature to her which kind of makes her very encouraging, and she sometimes gives out way to many hugs. The more serious one is Sukai and wears a school girl outfit with glasses and has blue hair that is cut short. She can usually be seen with a katana instead of the blade in Shikai form. She could be considered book smart and is usually floating upside down while reading right-side up. She is always constantly readjusting her glasses, and gets annoyed when interrupted. The final one is the neutral one named In'ei who is dressed in a lovely black kimono covered in golden dragons with emerald eyes. She has green hair that she keeps tied up in a bun. In'ei seems to be the one in charge and always try and keep the other two in control, either by knocking them over the head or yelling at them. Other than that... she is pretty a calm person.

The spirit will usually shrink down to this from if it wants to fight with him for whatever reason, but its other state isn't really that good for such things. It also has a bit of a possessive nature as well, in the fact it doesn't like to be left alone too long. Plus it does seem to be a quite a jealous little thing sometimes, leading to some amusing moments... especially with these three wanting to keep their 'man' around. The reason for this is that his sword seems to treat him in a manner of mom/sister/girlfriend or sometimes grumpy school teacher, depending on her mood. It also depends on what form it is at the moment. With most of the annoying stuff coming from the triplets who like to mess with their master and try to get him to chase them.

Zanpakuto name: Senkaritori (Thousand Reaper)
Owner: Araragi, Narora
Weapon: Her Shikai weapon, with no changes. The difference is just the feel of the Reiatsu it gives off, as it is no longer mixed with Narora's
Abilities: Same as Narora's own Abilities, no additions
Character Dynamic: Senkaritori's style is similar to Narora's, however, her speed and agility, as well as her reaction time, are slightly slower; a measure of nearly -15%. She has no Hakuda skills whatsoever, however, she makes up for this with her great knowledge of Kidou, rivaling Narora's own usage of the Demon Arts. In a battle of wits, neither has the edge; only in physical battles, where one has to sweat and bleed to win, does Narora have an advantage.

The only other advantage that Senkaritori has over Narora, is use of her own Bankai. She will not grant Narora usage of it, however, she will grant him use of her Shikai, to at least have a slightly higher chance to face her while she's in Bankai. Her Bankai drastically increases her power output anyway, and raises her Speed, Agility and Reaction Time to nearly match Narora's own.

Zanpakuto Name: Tachikaze | Earth-Severing Wind
Owner: Muguruma Kensei
Weapon: Fists.
Abilities:

- Tachikaze is in permanent Bankai and thus has all of Kensei's capabilities while in such.

- He also retains incredible strength and speed matching if not exceeding Kensei without his mask.

- He also has a theme song. Because why not. [Just... lol]

Character Dynamic:

- Same as Kensei's, though more bloodthirsty.

[Rukia Kuchiki]

Zanpakuto name: Sode no Shirayuki
Owner: Kuchiki Rukia
Weapon: Identical to Rukia`s
Abilities: Identical to Rukia`s

Character Dynamic: Likes to combine swordfighting with her ample skill in ice abilities, Sode no shirayuki is even more capable fighter with her ice abilities than what Rukia is and has been noted to be able to fire ice from her fingers, and whip powerful cold winds at her foes, to freeze her opponent`s solid. And yet her least favorite type of combat is closecombat, which she will avoid at all cost. However due to the freezing temperatures that her "breath" alone gives, it is also dangerous to fight her in closecombat.
