Physical Description:
Certainly, when first meeting Daisy Mae-Lynn, or encountering her frequently in the picturesque, albeit a bit whimsical at times, metropolis known as the Gotei 13, it is easy to become in entranced in her figure. Glances and double-takes are natural side effects of being around her presence: a soft completion, complemented by charcoal eyes, dark, clouded gems that carry compassion and a mother's touch, but likewise hold a vast source of knowledge and comprehension. Her round, child-like eyes are not the most discerning feature a patron would recount on occasion. Nay, the canopy of onyx foliage plastered on her face would have drawn your attention before you would notice her sharp cheekbones, flush lips, round and robust. Her hairstyle is anything but elegant and classy; her mane flows freely from his face, long strands of the the cylindrical filaments cover his ears and eyebrows. It isn't out of the ordinary to see her hair roughly thrown into a ponytail, divulging her entire face to the naked eye. A petite nose and elongated eyelashes, naturally long, however betray any evidence of masculinity. This makes us beg the question: just what beyond that pretty face and slick hair makes the elusive Daisy Mae-Lynn so memorable?
While her physique is neither Herculean in origin, nor does it bare a sense of fragility, there is a certain vulnerability that draws in both men and woman. Chest: while she lacks in the cleavage area she more than makes up in other aspects; her dainty figure speaks volumes of her cleanliness and upkeep of her body. Legs: abridged of any fat, thin and lanky, knees round knobs of pale flesh. Feet: nurtured by the earth, many a number of days spent barefoot on the soft ground, dew droplets sliding from the petals of flowers onto her feet. Her voice too is a kind as her features, a velvety chorus with a warm undertone, forgiving and just. A par of cobalt glasses rest on her nose, only adding to the look of sagaciousness and astuteness she carries around her. Her clothes are always cleanly pressed, her captain's robes entirely to big for her mousy body. A black scarf she acquired in the World of the Living is always around her neck, her trademark clothing, marking her as the captain of the 3rd division.
Furthermore, when departing to the living world on informal occasions, Daisy's Gigai is dressed to the nines; that is to say her clothes are impeccable: never a stain on her white dress shirt, skirt, an appropriate length for a young woman in her early twenties, and a matching par of knee-length socks. Under the guise of a young lass just making it into the world, Daisy goes about whatever business she came for, perhaps to buy sugary confections at the Tea Shoppe, or to just marvel at the serene town and its inhabitants.
Don't let this strait-laced appearance deceive you, she is as welcoming and affectionate as a mother, not only to her subordinates and colleges but everyone she meets. Never will a stomach go empty on her watch, a bruise unattended to and healed to the best of her abilities. A mother to the weak and fragile, her work never stops.
Personal Information
Personality Overview | There is a certain atmosphere cloaking Daisy, an alluring essence able to coax the most timid of patrons into unreserved companions. A cheery smile is more often than not plastered on her lips; a hearty laugh that fills any room with warm intentions and pleasantries. She was always an social recluse as a child, still is. She has the uncanny ability to make anyone feel at home, a mother's gentle chastising and a helpful word to anyone she may pass. Her personality is able to persuade the unruliest of people to confess their deepest and darkest fears, a face that wants only to help and assist those in need.
While she would offer up his life's savings to any race, from Shinigami to Arrancar, she doesn't pity anyone. Her belief is that with the two hands and feet they were each given at birth they can create anything: sculpt the world to their liking, paint the universe as they see fit. Similarly, Mae follows the wind, or natural order of things; landing wherever the breeze chooses to deposit her. While in may cases this may not be the best course of action she opts to stay out of internal strife, hoping to stamp it out between her Shinigami brethren. It was for reason, and several others, she joined the Gotei 13, taking a prominent position in the council hierarchy to maintain the stability between in the human and spiritual worlds. Daisy constantly strives for peace - something she knows she may never see in her lifetime.
On the battlefield too, she is able to keep the same unwavering composure; blade never drawn in a blinding, unquenchable rage. Daisy fights to protect her family, that is, the other Shinigami. Whether aligned with the the Gotei or not, she sees every race as an ally, or at the least, a friend.
Character Time-line |
Newborn 【 Age | 0- 85 】
As with most tales Daisy Mae-Lynn's starts off at birth; a joyous occasion for the the Mae-Lynn family, who at the time was struggling to meet ends meet. By no standards was the household rich, no luxurious items to adorn the shack they lived in besides the articles of clothing on their backs. Both mother and father worked sunrise to sunset, scouring the small village in Taiwan for work and commission, leaving poor newborn Daisy home in the cold, decrepit ruin of a house. While may neighbors and co-workers would come to gossip about Mr and Mrs. Mae-Lynn's decision in leaving the baby at home, the parents themselves thought it for the best, never questioning the safety of the baby. Surely, who wound want to rob a poor man and his wife? They had nothing of value, or so that's what they thought.
Unfortunately for this family they needn't worry about the crooks and swindlers that roamed the streets after dark. It was the real monsters lurking in the dark, chest void of heart and emotions. Aptly named 'Hollows', they were the real threat that would break the bond of this family. On Daisy's 11th birthday, like most, she spent it alone, contemplating just how grand her next birthday would be, how her parents would come home early with Gyozo Buns in hand and embrace the little girl. However, on this particular birthday Daisy got an unexpected visitor. It was the demon she had been warned about all her life, a white mask hiding its face from her, claws poised and ready to attack. Sadly, that would be Daisy's last birthday as a human, one she would remember well as a lost soul in Rukongai.
Hmm, but how did our maiden get to the spiritual world? Wondering the backstreets of Taiwan Daisy roamed for months, a chain slowly forming on her chest. She knew her time was up as a soul; but just before that could happen a man garbed in black and white robes found the Mae-Lynn girl, gently coaxing her to follow him. He told her stories of a magical world, filled with lost souls just like him and her; a place she would be safe at. To Daisy this man was a messiah come down to earth. She eagerly wanted to follow this man to the ends of the world, to heaven and back. But alas, she was destined for greater things. He sent her to Rukongai, a giant city filled with unknowns and uncertainty. This was were she spent the next 73 years of her life, picking up a job at a local inn as a stewardess, greeting their customers. This was also the place she would meet that man in black and white, her savior.
Child 【 Age | 86 - 118 】
The meeting was purely coincidence, an fatal error Fate hadn't planned on. Daisy was going through her usual routine at her place of employment, greeting customers and talking in the back of the building with employees. On her break however a loud ruckus could be heard in the main dinning area, footsteps slapping the ground hard as men and woman scuttled to position. It was her job to make sure everyone was doing as they were supposed to, certainly they would fire her if she came back to meet disarray and chaos. Hurrying back to the main enclosure Daisy stopped in her tracks. A man wearing black and white robes strode in, face holding a grin that could only be one person. The white gown marked him as a dog of the military; a high ranking officer in the Gotei 13. Both his and Daisy's eyes met, a trigger in both of their memories of that meeting long ago.
He was first to make the move, the paralyzed girl stuck in place. He grabbed her hand, guiding her out of the inn and back to the cobbled streets of Rukongai. He had most likely come for a drink and a quick bite to eat, but left with something entirely different. He dragged her to the Shinigami Academy, along the way promising her a scared position as his lieutenant once she got out. For Daisy is was all too much, the bright lights blinding her, words spoken is such rapid succession they blurred together. She was able to get the gist of it all once they made it to the Academy: she would be with her guardian angel if only she could pass. At that moment Daisy resigned herself to learning everything she could to prepare for the future, A future as a Shinigami, a Death God.
Adolescence 【 Age | 119 - 135 】
Many a number of years have passed, Daisy graduated at the top of her class, specializing in tactical maneuvering and long-range support. While many of her fellow classmates urged her to join the 4th squadron, Daisy had her eye's on the position of the 3rd battalion's lieutenant position. This also came with its own set of struggles -- namely battling the other men and woman wanting the spot as much as she did. While she wasn't as strong and fast as the other Shinigami, through her tactical use of Kido and timed attacks she won her rightful spot with her captain. Unfortunately for Daisy that reunion would be short lived.
Adulthood 【 Age | 136 - 187 】
It feels like decades since that meeting in the back streets of Taiwan, Daisy about to become the same monster which took her life not too long ago. That man intervened however, gave her a new life and made her feel like she had a place in the world. For a while Daisy's abandonment issues was a thing of the past, never to haunt her again while her messiah was their to cuddle and protect her. A happy ending to Daisy's story was out of the question however; her reason for living was lost once her captain fell in battle. Daisy was hellbent on finding the man who had destroyed this peaceful life she had once had.
For many months she wandered aimlessly through Rukongai and the the smaller districts, hellbent on finding any clues to further her search. Along the way she met a recently deceased soul who taught her compassion and forgiveness, a quality Daisy would carry with her till death. She formally took the position of the captain over the 3rd division, hoping to right any wrongs that she may have committed. Daisy devoted her life to walking forward, living in the moment and striving for peace; something she knew her former captain would have wanted.
Captaincy and onward 【 Age | 188+ 】
The ceremony was short lived, a speech was given about the death of their former captain and the peace that was to come under the new one. Hands clapped and patted Daisy, but deep down they thought her weak; certainly they would expect her to die before she could even make a name for herself. While there was some resentment and a little of Daisy's past abandonment issues crept slowly back, she is constantly looking to the future. She wants to become as strong as the other captains, not only physically but emotionally and mentally.
Zanpakuto Information
Zanpakuto Name | 衰えて雨, Otoroete-Ame, Undiminished Rain.
Ability Type | Tactical support Zanpaktou.
Release Phrase | "Let the heavenly rains descend upon the face of the earth, washing away our enemies, Otoroete-Ame!"
Sealed Description |
- Length:
In sealed form Otoroete takes the customary state of most Zanpaktou found in the Gotei: a black sheath covering the blade, the tsuka, or handle covered in a non-slide, lightweight gauze, allowing for a clean removal of the blade as is departs from the scabbard. On the kashiri, otherwise known as the pommel, is a small hole, barely fitting a small keychain which Daisy obtained in the human world during one of her many unsupervised excursions. The keychain itself has a small figurine of Kogepan, an overcooked piece of bread, longing to be eaten with the rest of bakery. While to anyone in passing the doll is just a keepsake, to Daisy it's symbolic of her wanting to become liked by her subordinates and fellow captains.
After removing the blade from the the sheath one can tell Daisy has spent countless days, hours, weeks, months, years even training with her katana; while her blade isn't broken and whittled with scars, there are certainly distinguishing marks that suggests she has been in her fair share of fights. The blade is still as sharp as the first day she held it in her palms, strong enough to piece the toughest flesh and hardest steel.
Inner World |
When Otoroete and Daisy's minds coalesce you get the resulting world: a forest not even Daisy has fully explored, a true Garden of Eden, filled with various fauna and flora from around the globe. Silent reminders of what once used to be civilization are sparse but still remain - - covered under the thick brush of shrubs and trees, sometimes quite literally growing from rundown houses; the trunks of trees surging forth from a house's roof. The only living matter within Daisy's Zanpaktou are the the silent deer that roam the timberland, self-induced illusions, companions to keep her company. The green grass sways, even without wind to propel it forward. On the highest trees lay beautiful, translucent fruit, only viewed when the correct amount of light goes threw the fruit; a light prism splattering the color spectrum on whatever lay below. Daisy yearns to reach that fruit, taste the flesh and skin of the it. Alas, Otoroete teases her: right before she touches the fruit the light fades, and with it goes the magnificent show of roygbiv, the fruit lost.
The last, most noticeable feature about the scared woodlands is the temperature and whether; constantly fluctuating at both the of the whim of Daisy and Otoroete's emotions. One minute a sunny, undisturbed sky with clouds slowly easing by is now filled with a torrent of raindrops, soaking anything in its path. Of course, Otoroete is located within the innermost ring of the circle, aptly called 'Heaven's Ocean'. To approach this secluded island Daisy must first walk barefoot to the moat that surrounds it. No, to call the resurgent waters a moat would be incorrect. Heaven's Ocean does not end, nor did it ever start. It is the face of the deep, the untouched waters God first laid his hands upon. Somewhere out in the vastness lies Otoroete, a stoic and snide Zanpaktou who plays games, hiding from even his master.
Otoroete: Come woman, may the speed of your feet be quick, lest the tide consume you whole.
Zanpakuto Spirit |
Otoroete is as snide as it gets: crude comments to not only Daisy, but to her comrades as well, degrading remarks thrown left and right and a potty mouth to match. Thankfully only Daisy can communicate with Otoroete, otherwise many relationships would have been destroyed.
While this leaves our poor maiden to become corrupt by the evil king Daisy knows how to put Otoroete in his place when he has gone too far. While their relationship is anything from picture perfect they share some of the same ideals, mainly when it comes to peace and stability. Likewise, their fighting style is similar, each opting to take a support role in battle, rather than man the front lines. Otoroete's ego is only rivaled by his own cockiness, a trait Mae despises about him. However, under that thick layer of indifference and aloofness Otoroete wants only the best for his wielder, giving her fatherly advice on matters such as men and the like. Otoroete may be a brute but he is a caring brute nonetheless.
Shikai Description |
In Shikai Otoroete-Ame splits in two, forming twin massive shields used to protect Daisy. Even for Daisy Otoroete is extremely heavy, so much so that Daisy can become an obstacle in the way of her own teammates. For this reason Otoroete is only used in dire situations and backup support. From tip to bottom Otoroete is 10 1/2 feet tall; from side to side he is about 8 3/4 feet wide. Surprisingly Otoroete-Ame is extremely thin. While in Shikai the shield's thickness is about 4 1/2 inches.
For a woman as small as Daisy to be able to wield Otoroete-Ame in battle, front line or not, requires her to constantly train her upper body, focusing all of her strength onto her triceps and biceps. However at the cost of expending precious reishi Daisy can use her spiritual particles as a jet pack, utilizing a sort of 'mouth' located on the front and back of Otoroete-Ame. From these vents spew several attacks, as well as the reiatsu to propel Daisy forwards or backwards.
Functionality |
For the most part Daisy is in the background of any fight, using Otoroete-Ame as a shield to protect her comrades or herself. While the shields themselves cover a large area and aren't very thick, they are coated in layers of spiritual particles. After the layer of reishi is removed Otoroete-Ame is comprised of several different metals, ranging from bronze to substances harder than steel and the like. The downside to this however is that Otoroete is directly linked to Daisy, replacing her arms with the same metals which comprise the shield. To remove the metal binding her she would also have to disengage her Shikai mode, leaving her with only her sword and Kido.
Abilities |
Name | Kinzoku no hifu hason | Metal Skin, Unbreakable Wall
Class | Defensive
Range | Close Range; the entire dome is approximately 36-37 feet, or around a school buses length.
Description | The two different parts of Otoroete-Ame join together, creating a gigantic shield. After the two combine they stretch in length and width, until a massive dome of metal and spiritual particles is created. Furthermore, this is the only ability in Shikai were Daisy may remove her arms from the shield. For the dome to return back to the separate shields Daisy has to reconnect her arms to Otoroete and say the words "Release!"
Name | Kinzoku no kuchi midoriiro enmu | Metal Mouth, Green Haze
Class | Supplementary
Range | Long Distance, maximum potency is 50 feet.
Description | The thin slits called mouths on Otoroete-Ame open up, releasing a giant cloud of green smokescreen. Using the time the gas has given Daisy can either escape or think up a counterattack. Similarly, the haze can benefit her comrades as well.
Bankai
When Daisy releases Otoroete-Ame we get to see his true form for the first time. When released Daisy loses her katana, substituting it for Otoroete's massive body. Her Zan is actually a gigantic turtle, its body is encased in high amounts of reishi particles and a thick crust. It has several tails it uses to attack with, and claws as long as a bus. From the tip of its tail to its head Otoroete-Ame is 1,011 ft long, 360 feet wide and 320 feet tall. Otoroete-Ame can also absorb water in the ground, collecting it in his body to shoot out of his mouth. In this from Otoroete's movement is rather restricted, but his destructive powers are unmatched.
Daisy despises using her Bankai for several reason: the first being she must solely rely on her Kido and Hakuda if she were to get attacked, the second reason is that during this form Otoroete is very stubborn, sometimes choosing to neglect her advice in key moments. She primarily only releases her zanpaktou to distract her opponents while she goes to attend to her comrades, or to end a battle. Daisy Mae-Lynn's bankai is a force to be reckoned with, a monster from your worse nightmares.
Combat Information
Reiryoku Level | {Leave this blank}
Character Dynamic |
Daisy's small frame is both a hindrance and blessing. For starters, she was always quick on her feet, a graceful movement only compared to that of a ballerina. Her natural ability to maneuver herself across the battlefield, along with her natural affinity with Kido is a deadly combination. On the same note her small stature is a definite handicap. Her reach with her Zanpaktou is much too short to be called effective in battle, additionally her long robe covers her feet, increasing the chance of tripping.
While Daisy Mae-Lynn lacks any sort of gusto and umph behind her attacks, her defense is another story. Staking a firm stance with Zan in hand Daisy's defense is what she prides herself on in a battle. The best defense is great offense, right?
Fighting Style |
When Daisy just has no other choice but to attack head on she prefers swift attacks, combined with Shunpo, to topple her enemies. Furthermore, when she fights serious she takes off her captain robes, a testament to just how serious she is. Likewise, Daisy has little to no Hakuda practice, solely relying on her Kido and Zan to get her through a battle; and of course her intelligence. Daisy is extremely proficient in Bakudo and uses it often in her fights to restrict her enemies or escape.
