The accidental brushing of their hands remained in the front of his mind, making him temporarily incapable of concentrating on anything else, although his facial expression and reiatsu signature did not betray any of his inner emotions to his apprentice due to his perfect control over it and a century of experience utilizing this skill. So soft.... thought the crimson haired Captain, holding the hand that had touched Kaoru-san's soft hand in front of his face, examining it as if it would give him the answers he required in order to move past the inadvertent physical contact and focus his energies on the events of the present. He made a fist with his hand and returned his arm to his side, shaking his red maned head and clearing the recollection of the recent past out of his mind. His sad smile at remembering Teina and the night they had spent attending a festival just like this many years ago disappeared with the fireworks, a serene expression replacing it and peace flooding into his reiatsu signature in the place of the nostalgia and slight sorrow. The noble glanced in Kaoru-san's direction upon hearing her chuckle and her approval of the closing celebrations, nodding to wordlessly express his consent that the fireworks were indeed excellent and ended the festival wonderfully.
With her black hair and wide smile, the experienced Shinigami did have to admit that Kaoru-san was...no, it would be improper to finish that sentence, he thought quickly, veering his mind away from the dangerous waters it was rapidly approaching. The black haired woman was a Shinigami and a seated member of the 5th division under Captain Zabuza, not to mention the 'sister' of the man who led the 13th division, Morinozuka-taicho, as well as his newly chosen apprentice and ally in the shadow war fought against Enigma and his dark forces. Hirato looked at his new apprentice and said, "Certainly," his tone light and his demeanor pleasant when he accepted the offer to continue their time together even after the official end of the summer festival. Kaoru-san's adoptive son, Kenji, now entered the scene and hugged his adoptive mother's legs, speaking with her happily then addressing the 9th Captain and asking him if he was going to accompany the two of them on their walk back to the boy's home, which was located in the 1st district of the Rukongai.
A compassionate smile softened his features, and the former student of Daisuke nodded and said that he would, stopping himself from tousling the child's hair gently midway through the action, his hand outstretched and hovering in the air between his own tall form and that of the lithe form of the 9th Seat, who held her adopted son. The noble retracted his hand and held it by his side, looking forward while listening to the light tones of his apprentice, his mind taking special interest in the final statement directed toward him that she spoke. His cerulean eyes flicked to her black haired head, his deep tones escaping from his throat in reply to the light tones of the interesting woman walking beside him toward the home of her adopted child. "Indeed, Kaoru-san, and what you have revealed to me has convinced me sufficiently of one truth about your heart," the Captain of the 9th division replied mysteriously with an enigmatic yet knowledge tone and an unreadable expression on his face, only composure and peace present in his reiatsu signature. He had no doubt that she would inquire or at least wonder what the one truth was, but he also had no doubt that he would not reveal it to her now, because of two reasons: one was the fact that they were joined by another and discussing it in the presence of others except for the two of them was not prudent, regardless of Kaoru-san's relationship with the third party and the other reason was that the crimson haired man was not entirely certain that Kaoru-san had prepared herself for learning this truth. It was not an unpleasant truth, but it was one that required a person to properly prepare their heart and soul beforehand, else the truth might actually lead them astray.
