The brain and the brawn. {Kimiko}

[Demizu Kimiko]

"Tch... All you Shinigami are the same... So let me guess, now that I'm defeated you'll 'recruit' me?.... Typical"

She muttered the last word as she still refused to look at her.

"If you want me to join fine... But I won't go through your academy, And I will not conform to your rules. I will do things how I want, nobody else's. If your superiors don't like it then they can kill me because I won't do anything except for my way got that?"

She sighed, She really didn't care for this Shinigami but it was obvious how she was talking that she wanted to die and was looking for this as an excuse to die.

"I won't grant your wish and give you an out for your own self-pity."

[Lhin Demizu]

"Then fight beside me... I know your skills firsthand and... will vouch for you if asked. As for my death. I guess I was not destined to perish here this day by your blade. Maybe sometime in the future but not today."

It was obvious that she was done as she pulled her hand back. Her own wounds still bleeding as she reached over and handed her back her zanpaktou. Her own blade was far away and she made no motion to go for it.

"The choice is yours miss. You are free to go. I will take responsibility for the dead men should you not follow me. I will then state they where faking a Kenpachi being here and let you live alone in peace."

As she spoke her words slowly became more slurred as her own eyes closed and she pitched backward onto the ground. Through half open eyes she looked up at the clouds as they floated overheard.

"You ever stop and just watch the clouds?"

[Demizu Kimiko]

"And now you want me to fight with you? Tch..."

She turned her head towards the sky as she spoke up again.

"Nope... No reason too. Who cares about the clouds or the sky... They're just things that are far beyond your grasp that nobody will ever be able to grasp no matter how much you try to grab at them"

She turned her head towards her.

"Why did you really come out here? What was your real motive? Did you come here just because you wanted to die? Is that why you didn't fight back against them?"

[Lhin Demizu]

"I came out here to do my mission... One that noone else would do as they all viewed it as suicide. To search for a Kenpachi is to search for ones death they told me."

Speaking as her wounds slowly healed she kept her gaze looking up at the sky. Watching the clouds slight movements in the air above them.

"Well I watch the sky as at times I wish I was one of the birds up there. Able to fly away and be carefree as they are. I tell myself that someday I will be able to reach those clouds and to help those that need it and protect those that cannot protect themselves from any threat..."

She blushed lightly as she spoke of her dreams as she lay in the small pool of her own blood.

"Someday I want to run the entire Gotei and use it as a force for good... Maybe someday we will see that come to pass..."

[Demizu Kimiko]

Kimiko scoffed

"It's already used as a 'force for good'. You Shinigami are all the same 'We work for the Soul King, and for the greater good of everyone!' but you people never once try to come out here and clean up any of these districts... None of you ever try to come out here and HELP the ones you claim to be protecting..."

She sighed, closing her eyes.

"Why do I even bother.."

She sighed, forcing herself up as she moved over to the other female, picking her up "Stay awake now... You'll have to guide me to your hospital."

She said, starting to walk towards the center of Soul Society where the Seireitei resided. She still to this moment never actually looked at her, Not wanting to acknowledge what was in her heart. The fear of what lay there scared her beyond anything else ever had.

Xiaoyu scoffed lightly. It was obvious that there was something on her mind as she opened her mouth to respond.

"I try to do what I can.. I just cannot do alot. I am but one woman. A small woman that is not physically intimidating to a bug."

As she spoke as she felt her get picked up. Looking over at her she closed her eyes. Her mind obviously not thinking of what was going on other than maybe just maybe she had reached this person.

"It is the fourth division... Its a bit of a walk but if you get me to the gates and do not forget either of our zanpaktous then I can get us in..."

Her words where weak as she passed out and rested comfortably within Kimiko's arms as she was carried toward the gates. Once arriving she opened her eyes and spoke to the guard who let them in without a second thought. As she was carried to the fourth barracks she spoke softly.

"Thank you miss.. Thank you so much for this. Ms Kenpachi..."

Kimiko grabbed both of their Zanpakuto's. She didn't try to say anything as she carried the female, following the instructions tha were given to her to get Xiaoyu to the hospital.

"Don't mention it... Literally. I can't have everyone knowing I helped a Shinigami. If they asked, I was forced into this, given no other option, understand?"

Never once had she bothered looking at her, she wanted burry that for away deep down so she never had to face it again... If she was to work with this women, It was going to be with whatever that was... That fear, buried down under everything else.

Time Skip

Time had passed and friends had been made and lost over the centuries. Yet Xiaoyu held her promise to Kimiko. She had trained her and honed down her anger over the centuries. The pair made a formidable team but Xiao had been struck down after exhausting herself in creating the pillars to combat Aizen Sosuke. So she had laid within the bed of the Fourth division for rhe longest time since her and Kimiko's first fight.

Several days after that Xiaoyu decided to reveal what she had learned just before the battles occurred and she had been given the taicho position for the Gobantai. A smile of pride crossed her face as she stood within her office and looked over the haori as it hung on the back of her chair. Hearing a faint knock on the door behind her she spoke up.

"Please come in. It is unlocked and I am welcoming any who wish to talk to me. It is a great day for us all."

[Demizu Kimiko]

Kimiko came in, bowing to her new Taichou before speaking.

"Congratulations Taichou on your promotion"

Kimiko hadn't really gained much since she entered the Gotei. She had started off as a fifth seat and had only gone up to the fourth seat in the entire time shed been here. It didn't help that she didn't bother to train or try to impress anyone since she had joined. She didn't care for anyone else in the Gotei but herself... And to some extent, Xiaoyu. She had buried her fear that she felt long ago, She could finally look at Xiaoyu without either blushing or nearly running into something if she was walking. She didn't know or care what it was, She just knew it didn't make her feel normal and she hated that feeling. It was like she was being forced into something that she didn't understand or know about and it reminded her so much of her Father that she hated the feeling.

Xiaoyu smiled as Kimiko entered her new office. The smile crossed her face and she ran over to hug the woman she had fought against so many years before but who had grown into a dear close friend of hers. Releasing her hold on her she smiled widely as she motioned toward her seat.

"I did it Kimiko. Look at that. I have gotten to the taicho seat. Just as I told you I would. I can actually do some good for people now. This power that that garment allies to you once worn. It.. It is something else. I feel happy for the first time in a very long time."

She pulled away from Kimiko and poured herself a cup of tea from an old kettle she still had from her days as the third seat. Looking at Kimiko she smiled.

"I am so happy you came by as well. I wanted to tell you something. You are getting promoted to my old seat. You may get promoted to fukotaicho if Ms. Hinamori does not get better so please begin to train yourself Kimiko. I want you to be the sharpest sword in the Seireitei."

[Demizu Kimiko]

Kimiko turned her head away at the mention of a promotion.

"I.... Don't want it"

She said as she sighed

"I don't care about getting stronger or being the best... Besides, I already told you. I do things my way, Nobody else's."

She looked away as she sighed. She never broke what she had sworn all one years ago, That she would never do as another told her. She had gotten into a lot of trouble, but none in the Gotei would kill her and they couldn't risk her running around in the rukongai anymore. And what was worse, She hadn't stopped killing. She'd killed numerous Shinigami by 'accident' when out on missions and though it was obvious she did it on purpose, the charges couldn't be proven and so she was always released.

"Why have you cared for me so much? You know what I've done and yet you've stuck by me all these years.... Why?"

[Lhin Demizu]

She blinked as she looked at Kimiko. Never once had the thoughts crossed her mind as to why it was that she was always so nice to Kimiko. Why it was that she cared. It was something she never felt like trying to explain.

"I care because I call you a friend Kimiko. You and I work the best together over the years. Always have and we have always been there for one another..."

She poured a second glass for her offering it to Kimiko. It was obvious she may of cared for her friend as more than such but she was still not acting upon those cares.

"Now come and sit down Kimiko. We can share a cup of tea before I tell you what we have in store for today. As of right now you are the acting fukotaicho for the division. So please no more bodies piling up?"

[Demizu Kimiko]

She rolled her eyes and sighed.

"But I don't even want to be the Fukutaichou... Why do I have too?"

She complained. She never liked this whole ranking system they had, it was one reason that she never tried eating better or tried to get a higher rank. She didn't care for all the responsibilities and if she stayed a low rank then shed be able to pass into obscurity whenever she wanted and be forgotten and nobody would care.

"Why do I have to be the one with those kind of responsibilities? You of all people should know I hate being known"

[Lhin Demizu]

"I know you hate it.. but Kimiko I trust you and I do not trust others."

She looked at Kimiko her entire person one of not lieing in the least. That was the one thing she had never done to Kimiko nor could she of done. Taking a long draw from her cup of tea she nodded and set it down.

"I have never lied to you Kimiko. i never will. I want you at my side to be able to try and make my own dream to come true..."

She closed her eyes as she felt that twinge within her chest. A simple thing she took care of with a simple cough and a turn away from Kimiko. There was some reason within herself that she fought all of this but even she did not know why.

She sighed, holding her arms, her left ith her right and right with her left as she sighed and sat down, finally taking the cup that had been offered to her.

"Fine but I won't like it and I ain't doing it because you told me too"

She huffed looking away as she tried to hide the blush on her cheeks. She couldn't explain why but she loved it when she was around Xiaoyu. Well she had helped to hone her skills and.... Be more responsible with her attacks... She still had her killer instinct and lust for killing, that was something she doubted would ever go away and honestly she didn't want it to go away.
